Listing on UAL
 

I have ridden on United several times, and I always list ahead of time. It seems like literally every time I list using 800-UAL-LIST, the agent I speak with puts me in the system wrong. Not being a United regional I work for, how do others list and not have a problem? When I call, I ask them to list non-rev, give them the airline code and my emp #, and they say I am all set. When I show up to the airport, the agent always asks me how I listed, and whatever I did was wrong. The computer at the gate asks for a Ticket Number, which I think is always weird.
Any ideas?

Are you jumpseating or riding on a pass? ( ie ID90, ZED, or company nrsa)
If you are jumpseating on United, everything is done at the gate via fastair and CASS..... listing ahead of time is only for pass riding.

I am jumpseating. I have been told in the past that I must list prior to showing up. But that makes sense to list at the gate since listing omc can only be done at the gate.
I am going to find out tomorrow how it goes not listing.

Another question, how do you list when out of the country? Since riding up front isn't allowed? I've been stuck in cabo because of not having a
"ticket number" and them not being able
to list an omc.

You DO NOT list ahead of time when jumpseating on UA. It just creates more problems for the gate agent who has to delete your listing and then do it the right way. The UA system uses your CASS info to create your jumpseat listing, it is probably the fastest and easiest system of any mainline carrier.

Jumpseating back to the USA on United can be a major pain, it can be hard to find a gate agent who knows how to list a jumpseater correctly, and some stations (like BKK) just refuse to do it at all. I've gotten stuck in NRT because of this.

Always buy a couple of return ZEDs when going overseas. They can be a lifesaver, and you can cash them back in if you don't use them.

I jumpseat on UA twice every week, for the past two years and have NEVER listed ahead of time. Sounds like a newb behind the counter.

I've listed before on UA but only to JS internationally, 6 legs in the last 6 months. No complaints and never a problem. If nothing else it ensures you're on the pax list the TSA required 75 minutes prior to departure in case you're delayed.

So when you did it internationally, did you omc or use a pass? I was in cabo, listed ahead of time, and it didn't work. Not only that they said I needed a ticket number, and couldn't list me there. Needless to say I didn't get back to the states on ual, but on alaska airlines. I am curious to see how to "list," OR
be sure that I will have a chance on international ual flights.

We just got a memo about ual intl jumpseating......

I have been working with the UAL Jumpseat Committee on the UAL international jumpseat issue as previously mentioned in the last PDH. This problem is unique in that for some reason both ARW and ExpressJet are having problems getting listed for a cabin seat back to the USA from another country. The reservation computer is not allowing this. I have have many reports of pilots working for many hours with station managers in international cities and are unable to get back to the USA. You can jumpseat on United out of the USA to an international destination, but not back into the USA on United.



The UAL Jumpseat Committee apologizes for this and hopes to have this IT/Computer issue fixed soon, but is not certain as to when. As soon as I know that the computer issue has been fixed and successfuly tested, I will let you all know.



In the mean time, if you must ride on United internationally you will have to use a ZED/ID-90 or some other forum of paid ticket.
