SLC Deicing: Type I and Type 4 always
 
To the guys that have been there awhile why does SLC give type IV after Type I when its a clear day and not a cloud in the sky...

I don't recall ever being deiced at SLC on a clear day:D

There was a memo just out about that... They have some special approval to allow a greatly reduced concentration of type 1 but to do that they must use type 4 also. Makes me wonder if they really save any money doing it that way.

Yeh.....which type 1 takes care of....have I ever seen frost form after type 1.....no.

i doubt it....Type 4 is pretty expensive

Logic I'm trying to see where Akro said anything about having frost after deicing with type I....just that you might have to deice on a clear day....

DAL does that for some reason. I think SKW will still give us T-I only.

But SLC does have a potential severe active frost problem from the lake moisture. It can switch on and off with no notice.

The memo I saw listed SLC and CVG as the 2 stations that have the diluted type 1 approval thing that we (Mesaba) could have to deal with.
