I sat j/s in a 200 from MSP-RIC and I think they blocked about 2.5 hours. It wasn't the most comfortable but I was happy to get there!

So LAX-ACA is 1656 miles.
I just used google to come up with the figure. Typed in "what is the distance between X and Y" Too freaking long to be in an "RJ" |
You guys are using statue miles. Nautical is:
LAX (33°56'33"N 118°24'26"W) ACA (16°45'25"N 99°45'14"W) 131° 1439 nm |

I have done the MSP-HPN, it is not fun. I had a MSP-CLE that was long because it had a taxi out, sit for 45 min get re routed 3 times, taxi back in for more fuel, taxi out, the new route took us west then down to DSM then somewhere in Missouri, almost to Arkansas then back up to CLE. I am also pretty sure they had the ALTERNATE ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS which we had to spend 20 mins explaining to them why that will not work. Of course as soon as we took off our original route cleared up but they kept us on the reroute.

NERD,
Due to the inexperience level of RJ pilots today and the intense pressure from management to save fuel despite safety, I believe that many are not willing to question the dispatcher. At the risk of irritating my FO's, I am constantly "lecturing" on the concept of Captain's Authority and the often mentioned but never read Code of Federal Regulations. I hope the industry returns to the day when the pilots have the experience and confidence to truly be in command of their flight. winglet |
