If Republic would go bankrupt what are your career expectations to get a new job? ---2 year FO at Republic vs. a Capt at Midwest or Frontier? ---7 year FO at Midwest vs. a Capt at Republic or Frontier? ---15 year Capt at Frontier vs. a Capt at Republic or Frontier? Think about it, where can you get an interview? This thought should be given to the arbitrator to help rule on career expectation. OK, I know I'm responding to my own posting... Let's say Republic goes bankrupt. If we think about career expectation as your chance of interviewing at a major. It comes down to ... --- Do you have something like 4000+ TT and 1000+ turbine PIC If you have it, you can interview for any First Officer position in the USA. You would have an equal career (rehire) expectation to anyone. Who can say a company would have survived or not? Frontier could be part of SWA and Midwest could be part of AirTran or both maybe bankrupt. Career expectation in this integration is not going to be like NWA/Delta. |

what was the career expectation of a pilot at an airline that had its fleet cut in half over a two year period? or that of an airline that only two companies wanted to help get out of bankruptcy (one wanting to protect its investment, and the other to buy out the competition)? their expectation was the unemployment line.

What are the career expectations of a Republic pilot with no hiring for almost 2 years and the industry cutting 50 seat RJs left and right? August 2008 article... So the major carriers are reducing use of the 50-and-fewer-seat regional jets. They're terminating contracts with regional carriers almost as fast as they can find an escape clause. When oil hit $50 a barrel, the [regional jets] were under water. When it got over $50, these became financial submarines," Boyd said. The trend appears to be partly behind Republic's July 11 announcement that it is cutting 500 jobs, or 10 percent of its work force. On July 3 - eight days before Republic announced job cuts - United Airlines informed Republic it was exercising its right to terminate a contract with Republic's Chautauqua Airlines, which flies seven, 45-seat Embraer jets for United. The cancellation did not affect United's contract with Republic's Shuttle America airline, which flies larger, 70-seat Embraer aircraft. In announcing job cuts this month, Republic CEO and Chairman Bryan Bedford noted that major carriers for which Republic flies were reducing their hub operations in light of soaring fuel costs. `The combined impacts of fewer aircraft flying and lower utilization rates on our smaller jet aircraft are leaving us with no choice but to adjust our business to current market conditions," Bedford said at the time. |

Your "career expectations" are born out by the facts,to wit:
RAH pilots=still employed F9 pilots=still employed YX pilots=not so much Would this outcome have changed sans RAH involvement ? NO.There you have it. |
