A fair question: I live in base and HATED commuting,which would be an absolute certainty at another carrier.Also,a major pay cut,at least for the first year no matter where you go.QOL issues mainly.Starting off at the bottom of a many-thousand pilot seniority list was less than appealing.I didn't relish the idea of flying back-side-of-the-clock freight,either.Money isn't everything,to me at least.I value time with my family.I have a good sched,16-18 days off a month,vs. being on reserve and commuting for how many years ? No,thanks.

Let's say Republic goes bankrupt. If we think about career expectation as your chance of interviewing at a major. It comes down to ...

If you have it, you can interview for any First Officer position in the USA. You would have an equal career (rehire) expectation to anyone.

Who can say a company would have survived or not? Frontier could be part of SWA and Midwest could be part of AirTran or both maybe bankrupt. Career expectation in this integration is not going to be like NWA/Delta.

Are you really wanting to go to an arbitrator with hypothetical situations? really?

what was the career expectation of a pilot at an airline that had its fleet cut in half over a two year period? or that of an airline that only two companies wanted to help get out of bankruptcy (one wanting to protect its investment, and the other to buy out the competition)? their expectation was the unemployment line.
