Commute to IAD from MCO

Anyone do it? No doubt its tough, but is it better than ATL?

commute

It's tough no doubt. But you have two airports with which to commute. DCA n IAD. You can get between the two on the Washington Flyer and Metro (Blue to Orange line) West Falls Church for about 6 bucks if you have to? Crew gets 1/2 off the 8 dollar one way just show them your badge. You could save a little more if you take the blue line to Rosselyn and take the 5A bus to IAD. Cheaper but not as nice or fast IMO. Flights are packed most of the time plenty of crew that commute south .Hope this helps.

Avoid Reagan if you can. If you are going to be based out of IAD. Go to IAD directly. It takes between 35 minutes to 2 hours (depending on traffic) to go to 1 airport to another. (I live in that area and work at IAD). Oh and there is no metro link to Dulles as of yet.

Don't either try it. It's too hard and some United guy will bump you out of the JS every time. Good luck.

What about hotels? I've read on here that the Dulles Hyatt Place offers a crew rate of $49 a night, but when I called, the person I talked to didn't know anything about it. Does anybody know if that rate is still offered, and if so, how to get it? Any other hotels nearby with decent rates?

When I was about to be displaced from STL to IAD (commuting to/from MCO for 18 months), I considered all the evidence (impending furlough, tired of the airline CRAP, etc) and decided I was done. Commuting from MCO to STL was tough enough competing with the CHQ and AA guys. But, going to IAD, as large a UA base as that is - too much work and stress to make it worth it.

What about Jet Blue or Southwest?

Anyone try them, or are they packed too? Currently, I'm on reserve in ATL. If I make the move to IAD, I will be fairly senior line holder. What would you do???

Also, any ASA guys on here? Do we lose our Delta bennies if we go? Whats the word on United pass travel? I'm a bit confused by what I hear from SH and company mail.
