Default AWAC LGA base

Can anyone please answer a simple question for me? Just wondering if AWAC still has the LGA base and if so, do they have any future plans on doing away with it?

Yes we do.

And - We don't know. A few of the recalled pilots were "awarded" LGA. But there hasn't been an actual vacancy for LGA in awhile.

It all hinges on this delta/us airways swap. If that goes through, my guess is we'll be back to the norm, PHL/DCA/ORF as the 3 bases left.

Does Air Cheese still have RDU as a domicile?

Yes, RDU is a base...

But, I highly doubt anyone will be awarded it...

However, things are never constant in this industry...(when I started here we had ATL, DEN, ATW, ORD as bases)

LGA is still a base, but don't come here counting on getting it. The future of LGA is very, very uncertain. Same with RDU.

In fact, don't come here with any base in mind. Things change. With that said, I think PHL and ORF are pretty safe bets for a couple years.

If US Air swaps LGA w/ DCA slots AWAC will increase flying out of CLT and DCA. It's quite possible RDU will grow in size.

I hope that's the case, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm not holding my breath either. The DOJ has not yet approved that slot swap. I have heard that AA is opposing it rather strongly, as it will give Delta a very dominant position in LGA and JFK.

I have no knowledge or opinion, it's just what I have heard.

It may yet come through, but word had been as of summer, but by now US Airways and Delta will be planning their summer schedules.

We'll see what happens. Believe me, I'd like to see more DCA flying. If I never flew to LGA again it'd be too soon.
