How true. It seems like every CRJ 50-seat operator strives to adopt some weird policy that sets it apart from the others. But why?

Every time a new Program Manager, DO, or VP comes in, it seems that they think they need to make their mark, justify their job, or feel that they know a better way to do it, so they make changes.

Pinnacle required it until about '04-'05 range. After that it was removed, I left 3 years ago so I'm not sure if they went back to it or not.

Pinnacle alters their winter ops checklist every year, winter '10-'11 we could be running them up, 10 years we've had this bird, still trying to figure out how to operate it

Because Northwest does it in the DC-9's. Everything we do is based on something NWA does or did at some time.

Atlantic Coast/Independence spooled up the engines prior to departure as well after deicing.

When I did my type in the CRJ in 05 at bombardier, they also recommended running up the engines to clear them of residual fluid.

It helps to clear out any vapor from the de-ice fluid that might get into the packs, etc. Took off one time and got a SMOKE TOILET due to this. Hope it helps!!!
