Ecco all the way. I have had both slipon and lace up and they are both airport friendly.

Seems like Ecco seems to be the most popular. Just ordered a of pair Helsinki Oxfords online from Nordstrom.

Actually just purchased a pair of Bostonian Flexlites a few months ago and can't say enough bad things about them. Shoes were lace ups, but stretched so much that they slip on and off. Sole has minimal support and the top arch of my feet hurt after wearing them all day.

Feel like I'm becoming a shoe snob, but hope the Eccos do the trick.

I second the Johnson & Murphy's most comfortable damn paid of dress shoes I have ever owned. I much prefer the slip on for the ease of passing through security. I just ordered another pair after three years, the old ones still look good but wearing them daily I would like a second pair to rotate.

Thank you for clarifying the lace up concern I had. I am looking forward to wearing them on my next trip.

Isn't that the point of airport friendly shoes, so we do not have to remove them while going through security?

By definition, your shoes are not "Airport Friendly."

I think I took the most time trying on shoes this last go around. I once made the mistake of rushing a shoe purchase and spending a lot of money. Needless to say my first trip both of my heels had half dollar size blisters, my wife had to drive to the airport when I was flying through so I could have my old pair back. Some of the worst pain my feet had ever felt!

Ecco for me. Going on 2 years with mine. Super comfy. Theres an Ecco outlet store in NW Houston.

Go to ECCO USA | Mens Shoes | Womens Shoes | Golf Shoes | Accessories | FREE SHIPPING

select mens helsinki (lace up). Look at bottom of description. These are "airport friendly". Make sure you check before you buy them online.
Not all Ecco are A-friendly. I went to the Ecco store at Mall of America and specifically asked for A-friendly. Went through the metal detector and sure enough, my original Ecco's were not airport friendly. They gladly exchanged them. They also have slipper type airport friendly shoes. Best shoes I have owned, by the way.

Yes, they have no shank period.

Solid sole.

They DO wear out but at 40-60 bucks a pair they're definitely what we regional pilots need.

As an FO I could expect a pair to last 12-18 months without trouble and I'm thinking double that as a CA now that I don't have to walk through glycol 6 times a day.

I second this ^^^^^^^^^^. The Bostonian flex lite is a descent shoe. However ,I might add the nunn bush bleaker street . Very comfy , durable , security compliant and high gloss shine.
