New ASA MEM Flying
Just curious! Is this new MEM flying that was just announced an increase in flying, or just moving some of it around? Recalls maybe?
Is pinnacle seeing a reduction in flying out of MEM?
I would say its just DL moving things around. At Mesaba, we are again doing some flying out of ATL and have been doing quite a bit of SLC flying for sometime now. Additionally, I have seen quite a few SKW birds in MEM and MSP, with Freedom having something of a presence in both MSP and DTW lately.

Total hours for MEM crews and 9E overall are up, but spread out in the system.
what they said. we lost a few cities out of mem and gained some in atl and cvg on the 200. also the net hours in mem is up quite a bit. So like higney said 9E hours have been going up since the beginning of the year and the hours are spread out over "bases" that we dont have crew bases in.
Pretty sure ASA is not having RON aircraft in CVG anymore. That mx base is being moved to CHA. CVG flying is greatly reduced (if there is any. I'm too lazy to look). This is just a shuffle.
Reduction in -200 flying for ASA in ATL and CVG --> MEM. No net gain.
Most of us OH guys would be fine if you all wanted to increase (start) JFK flying.
Thats Funny :D. You can Keep JFK.
Also, we'll be doing DTW stuff on the -700 come summer.

I'm not a part of DCI so I don't have the inside perspective but it seems like DL likes to spread all the carriers around instead of concentrating them in one or two cities. I understand that they want to avoid a management doomsday scenario like a strike or a situation where one carrier gets a large portion of their fleet grounded but is this really an efficient operation?
It'd seem like it'd be better to keep everyone in their respective hubs to maximize efficiency and then deal with the problems as they came along. |

Your thread is almost identical to one I already started:

In other interesting news 3 ASA employees are listed in the directory under the job title "Air Mekong"
Also interesting, when I pull up my profile on My ASA, Ken Smith is listed as my supervisor.
That is because he is to be the new Chief.

Good news, either him or FM would have been a good fit.
Except the intimidation and pressure KS has put on fatigue calls to fly anyway. "Pilots fly fatigued all the time!"..........KS 04/02/10. unfortunately NOT recorded |
Get him to say that in front of an ALPA rep.

These current chief pilots must think they will retire from the CPO. I hope they take their flight bags home with them WHEN they come back to the line, because they aren't making friends... |
