I'm not here educate you on anything, you can do that yourself. Obviously you haven't already.... And yes they did buy ASA as a wholly owned from Delta. Here's a hint- you're looking for "Post Merger Airline and Services Agreement". It's accessible information if you just pull your head out of your ass and look instead of cackling rumors in the corner like a little girl. Search away stupid people.

Lol @ Slant Alpha thinking that a "Post Merger Airline and Services Agreement" will get in the way if Delta really wanted to sell a wholly owned. Lol @ how naive he is.

Hey big guuurl slanty pants, instead of lowering yourself to our level and throwing a few crumbs, why don't you just post a link next time and save all of us stupid people the trouble of the scavenger hunt? In fact, why don't you just go ahead and post the whole text of it to support your theory? Thanks, you're really neat. |

I'm not being rude, just honest. My comment was also partly borrowed from a recently popular movie, although not word for word. You really have no idea what you are talking about. You have no idea how many planes other carriers have, you have no idea what the lease agreements are on those planes and you talk as if you speak the Holy Gospel. Try and use at least a few factual pieces of evidence to back up your claims.

We should all be mainline pilots anyway, that is the worst part. Then coming on here and watching pilots drool over a few planes at the expense of other pilots. It is sad. One day you are the bug the next day you are the windshield. I have always found it difficult to get excited about more flying that comes from the demise of another person's job and knowing that soon another pilot will profit from my loss.

You guys are sad.
Nobody is arguing. Just another rumor thread for entertainment....if you don't like it...kick rocks.

Maybe you should take your own advice....

Now back to the topic. I hear SkyWest Inc. is going to make their announcement early next week. We shall see if the rumors are true.

Yep. I have to laugh at all the people who get spooled up by posts by anonymous people on a message board. Anyone who takes anonymous message boards for more than entertainment value needs to lighten up.

How does Skywest buying a regional result in ASA gaining 30 900's?
If they try to run it as another sub, the ASA MEC will file a single carrier petition to end the whipsaw sure to follow. You do realize that there is a difference between SkyWest Inc and its subsidiary SkyWest Airlines, right? |

So how does a merger go? Fences in the beginning and then any new openings by a combined seniority? Relative seniority? How senior is the Mesaba group?
And though they are a bit smaller, I think Mesaba's seniority profile is pretty close to ASA's. |
Its funny how 3 months ago I heard this rumor from "people in the know" except most of the growth was going to the SKYW side. Heard the big man himself say that if Inc bought another airline he would not want another pilot group. Take from that what you will......
Just another tid bit that I heard. JA does not want a Union at SKYW. If another airline is purchased and all advantages go to ASA because they have a union and can merge list and SKYW can't because they are not union SKYW pilots would go Union Tomorrow. That is why he does not want another pilot group. Heard him say he wants assets only so growth can go to SKYW as well. Not flaming, just adding what I have heard him say. |
Looks like asa is getting 16 more 700's soon.

I just heard a rumor that you guys are planning to hire 400-600 more pilots by years end?

The rumors are definitely flying fast and furious. I just heard one about a merger with ExpressJet. I don't hold this rumor to be any more credible than any of the rest, and probably very unlikely to be true.
I do think it's definitely entertaining to hear all the crazy stuff that gets passed around. New -900s, possible mergers, possible liquidations of other carriers (wholly owned or not) and acquisition of their assets, etc. etc. No one should get too excited. IMO something is afoot, but I'm not sure what it is and am not going to get too concerned about it. And if nothing happens by the end of the year then watch morale sink. So for anyone who thinks ASA, ahem, Atlantic Southeast pilots are crazy to be passing on these rumors, just take a chill pill. We'll all believe it when we see it. For now it's just idle entertainment. |

Thanks to Freedom our block hours for December are the same as our block hours for July. That's why the furloughed guys/gals are being recalled. SH told me today that no hiring is expected until Jan. 2011 and that would be for 2011 summer flying. We don't even have a hiring department right now.
|
Another position notice came out yesterday. Looking at the max numbers, it calls for up to 46 more upgrades. Something's up.
|
Maybe, but it could just be rebalancing for when all the furloughs are back on property.
