mowie, it's in the middle of this month. Got a pretty good gouge from a lot of my friends who work there, but any advice is well appreciated. With AAH and HAL where they are, I'm afraid there won't be much oppurtunities for upgrades. What do you think?

mowiepilot 08-03-2006 05:26 PM

winnebago - the IQ test you have to take are an important of the interview, so try to do well on those, who knows what they are for..?... as for upgrades you never know, i know a few AAH/HAL forlough guys are getting called back soon. I haven't heard when the next ground school is, maybe you have? do you have PIC from the shorts?

Iflywinnebagos 08-04-2006 08:52 PM

mowie, Tiare F. in HR told me Sept. 18 is the next class. I'm going to be upgrading shortly in the shorts which is another reason why I can't decide if I should stay or go. But a big deciding factor is definitely QOL. Flying boxes at 2am gets old real fast. Thanks for the heads up on the IQ test. I've been practicing them on highiqsociety.com but it's really not something you can study for huh? I guess I'll just have to wait and see if my IQ is high enough for island air.

winnebago, plus the 121, i did night 135 for about 2 years, but yeah no life what so ever, 10pm to 5am and sleeping all day sucks, leaves no beach time, another thing is if you are continuing on to other airlines, i think they would pefer Dash 8 to the 360, just my opinion....anyways take care, pm me if you have any other questions

winnebago,
Do you fly for Trans-Air or the Fed X subcontract? If it's Trans whats the deal with hiring over there. Is it PFT? Pay? I guess I'll ask more questions if you do.

Why do so many ethnic types think it's cool for they themselves to use racial epithets, but then would scream like a stuck pig if I did it to them???

Amen brother.

Actually, I did move away, and I bet you can't tell me what haole means. Just to help you out it would be "go away,(comma) you (the reciever of action) stupid haole."
Facts are facts... look it up, 48th in the nation on high school performance test. I find it remarkable that you're so offended by my comment and yet the biggest obstacle you write about in aquiring a new job is to prepare for the I.Q. test, thank you for proving my point.

Rick, most of them don't even know what that word means. I stopped letting it offend me long ago. My girlfriend lives in Hawaii Kai so I go back there all the time, so except for the few people who use the word in a non insulting way, I just ignore the obvious racist remarks.
but thanks for comment, as usual, I agree with the bulk of what you say.

P.S. I really wasn't trying to offend any of my fellow aviators from Hawaii. I moved there with great hopes, and was giving my honest opinion of my experience. I know it's politically incorrect, but it was a big factor in moving back to the mainland.

I interviewed in may and I'm now in the pool. FO pay is bad like everywhere else. Oahu and Hawaii is a great place to live if you find your place. The flying and the wx is great. As for the locals, I have found them to be wonderful people loving their land and keeping a culture alive. If you like wearing board shorts, rubber slippers and seeing rainbows, whales, and waterfalls come on out.

What is the most junior captain now?

Big Dog, where you flying the Dash 8 now? Looks like you've got a scenic avatar. Is it somewhere in the North East?
