This is in the Management Play Book. Don't fall for it. Management is going to pull the "Offer" saying you, the pilot group, let it out.

Yeah....I hate airline management, but I work for them. Give me a break.
SAPA came out with an email to keep it on the downlow.

Justmushroom, you seem to be wise, Grasshopper. So what is your opinion, will the ALPA thing pass when it comes to a vote next time? We ASA guys are getting tired of that thumping feeling in our A$$ named jerry.

I personally am for representation..and I think 90% of the pilots are. The only question is which one..ALPA has tried before and it was very close..I think 4 or 5 votes. Teamsters got shot down. An in house version was shot down BAD (for various reasons centering around the people doing the organizing).

We have a few United guys left, I think if the vote is done quickly.we may get the needed votes...

Problem are the new a--clowns who don't know jack, a few anti-organized labor types who have been burned in the past and general apathy from our group.

It's not bad at SW. Actually, I think everyone is happy. That's the problem. Management keeps it just toloralble enough not to **** everyone off but low enough so management can have a 3rd house in Aspen. We don't have any illusions about getting rich flying an rj, but we don't want to be flying A320's or 737's for $90 an hour either.

I think 66% of the pilots will vote ALPA if done within 6 months.

The real question is why??? The threat of a union is much more useful than a union itself. Plus you get to save 2% of your check every month. Think of all the dollas you will save. You can see at comair we got the sweetheart deal with union hostage taking and we still had to give back anyway. I say good for skywest guys for not having to waste money on dues every month. Plus a union is extremely difficult to get rid of once they are on property if they don't act properly. I predict within 10 years comair will begin a decertification drive if ALPA doesn't get its act together.

There is a lot to be said for that...

Compared to most alpa regionals, skywest's big problem seems to be the 700/900 rates...they do need to get that fixed before the airbuses arrive...

YOu think ASA and Skywest will merge then?
