PUBLIC SERVICE INTERN 2 - NDOT AVIATION PROGRAM - 07.653 - 12723
APPROXIMATE SALARY$35,475 - $51,866 per yr
LOCATION: Carson, Minden, Gardnerville, Genoa
Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
This position is located within the Flight Operations Division, Carson City. In a student internship capacity, works in a temporary, six-month position. Duties assigned will cover all facets of a government flight department, including assisting in the development of operations and procedures manual; administrative back-up assistance; maintenance of the State hanger facility and aircraft; and acts as co-pilot Second-In-Command (SIC) on NDOT aircraft which is currently a jet (Citation II) and a turboprop (Commander 840).

To Qualify
Education and Experience
1)Bachelor's degree related to the field of employment and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic graduate program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university.
Special Notes
1) Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation.
2) Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service.
Special Requirements
1)A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
2)Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Additional Position Experience
1)This is a student internship program in Flight Operations, therefore, the incumbent must have a Bachelor's degree in Aviation and be enrolled as a graduate student in an accredited college or university system.
2)The incumbent will act as Second-In-Command (SIC) pilot on NDOT aircraft and, therefore, must hold a FAA Commercial Pilot Certification with Multi-Engine Land and Instrument Airplane ratings.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.

...but on the contrary they can look at their flight instructor and ask why they would settle for these current wages.
Any student out there reading this that knows or has a feeling their instructor is just waiting for a call from the regionals...ask them why they are willing to settle for these current pay scales. Get them to open and see what you just might become.
Get them really thinking what kind of professional pilot they are setting you up to be...and whether or not its just that disease that makes some people think a couple of bars on the shoulders and a seat at the controls of an RJ is the only way to feel like theyve 'made it' in aviation...
