ahhhh a sad day indeed. The ERJ crews at Mesa/Freedon were the best..

I'm one of the folks fortunate to still have a job... It's on to the Mesa side of the house once again to learn the CRJ.... Hats off to all the fine folks I've flown with recently who aren't so fortunate- u will all be airborne again sooner than you think....

Even more disheartening for me today than sealing up freedom was learning of Bill Hodgett's death in CVG (comair ramp supervisor). In my 16 years of bouncing from base to base in standard Mesa fashion, I've never had the pleasure to work with a nicer guy... He was a dedicated, upstanding individual who always had a positive attitude - no matter what. I'll never forget stepping off the ERJ in CVG on the eve of the demise of DL's A concourse "slaughter" of 800+ comair ramp employees and finding Bill in the smoking room. "Bill, what are u gonna do now?" His response- " got on at the other end of the field with DHL- pay is not great, but I'm happy- more time with the family and I still have a job here at the airport". God bless u, RIP....

If we cross paths, screw the beer, I'll split a bottle of 18 year old scotch... and sing a rousing chorus of American Pie.

Bill(and other rampers and gate agents at CVG) told us that we were the best group of pilots he had worked with. He will be missed.

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._4391150_n.jpg Peace my heart...Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.Let it not be a death but completeness.Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest.Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence.I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way.~Rabindranath Tagore
