What TSO Headset do you use??
 

Hey guys I'm in the market for a TSO headset and I'm just running in circles. I know a few people with the clarity aloft that like them. What do you use and what do you fly??? Thanks guys

Bose. I have both the X and the A20 (newest).

I'm sure I'll get flamed from the masses for using an expensive headset.. but my thought is: How much is my hearing worth? I want the quietest I can get because that $1000 I spend today could be worth a lot more in the future.

My thoughts exactly. About a year ago I upgraded from DC's to the Bose X using their 0% payment plan and it was definetly worth it. You'll notice right away when the headset doesn't feel like a clamp on your head during your 4th flight of the day. Additionally it felt like a good investment in my hearing for later in life. With the new A20 coming out I'm sure a lot of gently used X's could be had for $500ish range.

Tried the A20 a couple days back in the 441.....if only I had some money!

I purchased 2 A20s and love em for the sound reduction qualities.. especially in a 414! However, Bose seems to have an issue with the battery/ANR control as both of mine are broken and they're apparently doing a redesign of them. They gave me the option of sending them back, full refund including shipping, send me loaner Xs or just wait. I grabbed a couple of loaners so I have something to use.

Bose has excellent cust service and a quality aviation product.

And on the other end of getting yelled at: the Bose QC2 Uflymike combo is TSO'd if used in compliance with the conditions of the TSO. ie. Earplugs in case of battery failure.

The bose QC15 uflymike setup also recently received their TSO. I know guys on Twin Otters and EMB-175s that swear by them.

The cost of good headsets are high, but so is the cost of hearing damage. So I bought the best headset there was at the time, Bose X. No regrets, and you can hear crystal clear when its loud. Just don't like it when the ANR flutters in my ear, very irritating.

Use the Clarity Aloft in the Q400 and it's awesome, used to use the Bose X but the CA is much more comfortable to wear, it's just as quiet, no batteries, and has an MP3 jack. Highly recommend.

I have a bose as well and have been thinking about going to the clarity aloft. Seems much lighter. I like the fact that there are no batteries for the CA and it has the audio jack. I tried out the Clarity Aloft at the AOPA convention and was impressed. When I get the cash I will prob make the jump. The woman that works for CA told me they do deals three times a year, AOPA, Airventure, and Sun N'Fun. They are cheaper only during those weeks.
