Last I heard, yes, but we don't know for how long. He came back out of retirement for this round of new hires!

With a list of ~4000 isn't airline apps a good resource to use? Would you rather them learn how to use the system when they are hiring a class ever other month or when they really need to hire? It makes sense to me.

It doesn't matter how many pilots are on the list! It matters how many are going to be hired. DAL probably has 10,000 applications on file at any given time, making it impossible to manually sort them. I seriously doubt ASA has that many.

Back in the late 90s/early 2000s we were hiring 300 a year and growing like a weed. AirlineApps existed (I think it was called UPASS then... TWA used it) but we didn't. The difference is that ASA would have to hire people in recruiting to pore over resumes/applications and conduct phone interviews. This used to be done by pilots. See where I'm going with this? Now, they're automating it, and passing the cost along to YOU by making you buy a membership. ASA acting like a big shot.

Maybe. But I'd bet it's more like 200-300. Our VP Flight ops sent a memo that staffing is where they want it to be through the early Spring. There is a lot of uncertainty with the XJT merger and they're not sure what our summer utilization will be yet. You have to understand something about ASA... they are NEVER proactive.

Total BS. There won't be that kind of movement until retirement age kicks back in (2012).

It will be one million new hires!!! Muhahahahahah! :D

New hires for WHAT FLYING?????? There is NO WAY there will be any growth in 2011! With some attrition I hardly see the need for 400 hires! We are fat now at ASA, considering over 30% on reserve and nobody on reserve breaking guarantee any more.

LOL! "NO WAY!"

I wouldn't be so sure about that bro.

Also, 30% are on reserve in ATL because many of the lines went to the IAD base due to the UAL scheduling now 2 months in a row mix up. If you want some extra cash with out working the insane amounts of hours to break guarantee on reserve, volunteer for TDY to IAD!

With PBS coming that reserve coverage is going to go down to around 10%

AtlCSIP 11-30-2010 06:54 AM

As of today, 11/30, 12 of the 27 on todays reserve list have over 75 hours for the month, and there is quite a bit of open time for December.

Also, we are losing 7 to 10 per month due to attrition. I went up 7 numbers last month.

Tony, DR told me that he had 4000 applications to go through 6 weeks ago. That's not enough to use Airline Apps?

yep, they are looking. I got both an email and phone call today from Recruiting for an interview.
