Today is as good as any to quit.

Fact of the matter is I could be a great time to get into aviation.
Many of the haters on this board never have done manual labor or sat in a dead-end cubicle for 50K. You will have to wade through the next 5+ years for sure, but help is coming at most ALL carriers
Keep in mind the majors are farming out to regionals plus consolidations are happening. SO basically the majors are shrinking and the regionals are growing

Funny how people are hating on him for going to grad school and saying it's actually going to hurt him somehow. Regional recruiters aren't looking for Maverick in the right seat of the RJ. All they are going to care is how's his demeanor, judgement and attitude. He's got 3000hrs in a jet and a graduate degree. Sounds like he's got pretty good judgement in my book. Just because he left I don't see how it will hurt him since he has provided a very valid reason for doing so. To me he's over qualified to fly a RJ for 20K a year. But that's up to him.

Kudos to him for looking out for his future and not quitting school just because the company needed a low paid FO back. Besides he's talking about getting hired at the regionals not a LCC or major. Even then after a year or two at a regional he'll again be over qualified for any of those jobs except for the PIC time. Then again what do I know maybe the regional airlines wants to hire some 19 yr old, high school diploma, low time guy/gal over him. It's happened before...
