Yeah I'm on the Jan 17th class too, what time are you arriving at MKE?

taildragger1946 01-09-2011 03:47 PM

About 3pm. You?

Dac83 01-09-2011 03:59 PM

Were you hired by AWAC? If not then I can only imagine why since you think it was a joke.

You should never walk into an interview and be too cocky! They can tell pretty quickly. Take everything seriously and if the interview ends up being easy the you were well prepared and you did your homework.

To anyone who is, or has recently been through new hire training; is there any need for a laptop during training? Are there any CBTs to take back to the hotel room or anything that would require a computer?

Thanks!

Generally I'm not the crazy study type. But initial does move pretty fast causing you to write notes in chicken scratch. So I found it very helpful to transcribe my notes after every day in ground school. It may be different now compared to 4 years ago when I started but it's normally been the "shape up.....ship out" mentality. So do yourself a favor and if you really wanna work here, study like you do. It'll go a long way. FWIW

And you might need a stress reliever during training... ie. APC or Flightinfo :)

If you call the number on the website the girl that answers will give you the email for the recruiter. I emailed her and it seemed to work..just got the call..interview in a couple weeks.

FSUpilot 01-13-2011 05:10 PM

do you know if it was cathy lucas? I found an email address for her but i dont know how old it is.

clipperskipper 01-13-2011 05:26 PM

Great idea as they aren't picking up the resumes off of their website.

king 01-13-2011 09:32 PM

I'm in 2nd week of training now. Bring a laptop as long as it wont be a distraction. Dont bother looking for a FAR/FC I havent opened mine once. I used the aim a little but I looked stuff up online. Bring a notebook to take notes the first day (obvious hopefully). Also, bring a voided check for direct deposit, a flight case type case for books and dont expect any free time in the evenings during the week. Like, no time to work out, talk on the phone much or watch more than an hour of tv.

For people trying to get an interview, I met one girl who was called cold after putting her resume up. No internal rec (but I think she's an exception). Calling HR people and being sqeauky is the best way to get a call besides a rec.

No it's not..I know that's the email listed on there, but I emailed her and didn't hear anything. The phone number on there is good though..just tell the girl you're just making sure they got your app..blah blah blah..is there anyone else I could contact..then she'll give you a good email of the recruiter.

I am waiting for a call myself, hoping and praying it comes eventually.

clipperskipper 01-20-2011 01:09 PM

I got the call yesterday (Meg). I have been out of this so long, I really was surprised!

rtft27 01-21-2011 11:52 AM

For those of you that have already interviewed, are the gouges pretty spot on? Anyone care to share some questions that were asked on a recent interview?

Mkaprocki 01-21-2011 01:07 PM

I interviewed on 1/6. It was mostly HR questions, with some tech stuff thrown in. They're really just trying to get to know you. Just be yourself and it'll go fine!

TRS531 01-21-2011 03:03 PM

The recent gouges are 100% accurate. Mostly HR, some tech..

Cessnan1315efw 01-22-2011 04:35 AM

Hey guys, just gave my resume to some friends that know people in the flight department. Hopefully will get a call. What i was wondering is regarding the interviews. I'm sure it's basic, but what kind of stuff are they asking in the phone screen? Also, what is the best most up to date site regarding the face to face interview gouges. Thanks!

cka411 01-22-2011 05:47 AM

How long does it usually take them to decide to phone screen once an application has gone into, being reviewed?

rtft27 01-22-2011 06:45 AM

Hey TRS531, Would you mind linking to the site with the most recent up to date gouge? Ive seen a few and was just curious as to what was the most accurate one. Thanks again.

detpilot 01-22-2011 09:27 AM

You'll find the most recent gouges on this thread, and the other AWAC thread in this forum.

TRS531 01-22-2011 01:02 PM

Read through this thread and the Air Wis QOL one as well...everything u want to know is there. In regards to the phone screen, it's mostly to confirm your times, basic background and a few "why do you want to work here questions". If they like the answers, a interview is then usually set up.

cka411 01-22-2011 01:15 PM

One your online application goes into "Being Reviewed" status does it take them a while to decide to call you?

TRS531 01-22-2011 01:56 PM

Not too long from what I've heard(although SOME have been "being reviewed" for a LONG time). Just have to keep mind the volume they're dealing with. Mine took about 2 weeks from being reviewed to a call. No rhyme or reason as to the timing. The Flt ops job fair did help though with getting emails/names/#'s.

ISU1150 01-22-2011 04:07 PM

Did FltOps.com help? I met with them there, submitted, and am now waiting with a 'Being Reviewed' as well. Hoping that helps it process faster, we can only hope!

TRS531 01-22-2011 06:07 PM

The fair did help..several follow up emails resulted in a phone call 3 weeks after the event.

Radar Nosehair 01-23-2011 10:30 AM

Yep the fair worked for me as well, likewise I got a call after 3 weeks. Good luck!

rtft27 01-28-2011 01:16 PM

Has anyone heard of any upcoming class dates for those who have been given offers recently?

Jawad 01-28-2011 02:34 PM

Monday, January 31st, then ever two weeks after that.

ISU1150 01-28-2011 05:29 PM

Nice, still waiting on a phone call! Hopefully it comes in soon, I really want to work for AWAC! Going on 2 weeks since I sent it in, no need to worry...yet.

clipperskipper 01-28-2011 06:05 PM

I spoke with AWAC again today, they're trying to hire me as a mechanic and I flat out told them I was all set unless you want an F/O.

rtft27 02-03-2011 06:14 PM

Was anyone else given offers that interviewed the 27th of jan?

Fly782 02-03-2011 06:25 PM

Anyone one know how long you have to wait to reapply? The website isnt letting me reapply..

rtft27 02-03-2011 06:48 PM

The website won't allow you to, you have to send your updated resume through email.
