Republic the new Laughing Stock...
We used to think Mesa was bad....Republic is now one of the lowest paid airlines per fleet, the union is a HUGE joke now who can't even get a senority list, and now the airline is canceling lots of flight due to lack of crew. I was told that they tried to get 26 for a new hire class but only got 15 to take the job. Hold on thought, Bedford finally figured out that he is getting his ass handed to him so he is moving 8 airplane from Frontier back to us here at Delta. What a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as the seniority list integration, your either extremely ignorant or just wanted to post something to start a fight. IBT is a joke but nobody can force the arbitrator to render a decision. Everyone is supremely frustrated with no result being put forth. |

It's all well and good for the high and mighty at Delta to complain about the pay the a contract carrier, but they helped create the current situation when, in the early 1990s, they wanted nothing to do with smaller jets and kept conceding scope in exchange for short term contractual gains that only a few would ever actually see.
This is the result and it won't change until the pilots at the majors can take the scope back. I'm tired of hearing how we created the problem. |

Its guy's like Sambo and dosbo that make me embarrassed to be an airline pilot. It can not be said enough... the reason you guys are always having to snarl at regional guys messing things up in the industry is because of YOU and your fellow selfish ass pilot group!
As far as this thread goes, I disagree, its not Republic that is the new laughing stock! Its guys at the legacy carriers that sold scope away and now ***** and whine about getting bitten in the ass by it! Now aint that about a B****?!? |

You are right mainline does need to fix scope which I hope the JCBA does. And if the scope does get improved or fixed resulting in a loss of regional jobs, can I assume there will be no bit&^%$ing about the loss of regional jobs. When I was hired prior to the age 65 deal I had reasonable expectations. But when an entire fleet is parked resulting in a massive furlough yet regional feed increases by 14% then I say yes my job was outsourced and is being currently flown by regional pilots. Are they the only ones to blame? No, there is plenty of blame for many different groups. But as long as they are willing to fill the bottom end of the pipe for low wages then management will go to extream measures to take advantage of those cheap wages. For example the 70 seaters using CO code in IAH violating thier scope, management response was to simply change it to UA code when challenged. |

The passengers are paying for a UAL ticket and that is what they think they are getting, when in fact the product is being outsourced to a lower bidder. What it going to be a real B**ch as you say, is if scope is not fixed and in the future all flying is outsourced or joint ventured. Your career will be at places like republic and go jet which is where you will be retiring from. But with the whipsaw game no one regional will be stable long enough for a pilot to actually retire from any regional. Were all just a bunch of wh0res and prostitutes, the only difference is the pay rate. Difference between a wh0re and a prostitute? Prostitutes do it for a living to make money. Wh0res do it for free because its fun. Which one are you? |

You'd also be employed still if not for 65. Those are the same pilots who sold scope out. Now as we all suffer because of them we must also push for changes. Remember who truly is to blame.... Had it been not changed 50 plus seat flying would be where it belongs. Had 60 not been changed your life would be flying high at ual. Had both never changed you'd have been even higher.... So the regional drivers are to blame? Maybe a shared blame with 85/15 split. 85% mainlines fault for the above two reasons. Scope and 65!!!!

But with the above statement in mind, what are/were CAL and UAL's first year wages? Not too impressive. UAL's subsequent NB years aren't exactly stellar either. Never mind CAL's lack of insurance, etc. And NOPE, I'll NEVER argue that staying at a "regional" is better than even the crappiest legacy. But pilots willing to work for substandard wages is not restricted to one segment of the career while chasing the oh so elusive "payoff". |

Which one are you?[/QUOTE] In that case, i guess for now i'm both a prostitute and a w****!......the only difference is that i (and i believe most of us) don't want to stay a cheap "prostitute" earning pathetic wages. It's the aspirations of starting at the bottom of the barrel and slowly and eventually make the transition into "porn" and someday attain "jenna jameson" status in the industry by working and retiring from a place like swa or fedex or dal.:p |

I can't think of one regional pilot group that jumped up and down and said. "Hey, lets steal a bunch of scope from those mainline guys and do it for really cheap, and then maybe someday we will all make it to a major." Nope, it doesn't happen. As much as guys don't like to hear it, Mainline sold scope, and that is that. Sure, maybe they had a gun to their head and where forced to do it, but why should the new regional pilot then be the one to have a sense of righteousness and not take a job paying low wages? We all want to move on, and you can't do that without 121 time.
Regional unions are focused on making their qol as best as it can be, not stealing jobs, because we all know it is a place that many will end up staying at. |

. lemme guess...you also blame those greedy 60-65 year old guys who were flying at your airline 30 years before you were for "stealing your job" by not retiring at 60 and making way for you... Unless you have been living in a cave for the last 10 years the only "reasonable expectations" for anyone in this industry are furlough once or twice, slashed wages and retirement, mergers, and SLI nightmares. |

Mostly I blame the management team that parked the entire fleet of 737's because they were to expensive to operate, according to them. Seems there are many other airlines that don't have problems operating 737's. But as I said as long as there are pilots willing to fly for substandard wages then management will do whatever they can to outsource to the lower cost even if it means losing control of the product. As I said before there is plenty of blame to share with many different groups for the current state of this industry. This thread started regarding Republic so I shared my views on that particular part of the problem. Ultimately it is all my fault for believing this would be a good career when I was looking at payscales and QOL back in the 1997 time frame. I did my due diligence and thought it worth the investment in time and money. Then the rules began changing. Any one looking at the industry today and looking to get into it for a professional career is just nuts. |

"I know United management went to United pilots and offered them money to outsource more flying to the regionals. I know United pilots agreed to relax scope and give jet flying away at the expense of future United pilots and I know I am one of those future United pilots now feeling the effects of those United pilots who have profited on my current financial pain...but I still blame regional pilots. That's right, if every single regional would just decide to all quit on one day and not go to work unless they flew a prop plane with 19 or fewer seats then the mistakes of my companies pilots would be fixed. Why won't you fix our mistakes?" You do realise it's not going to happen and it's your companies fault for the situation you're in, right? |

The pharmacist at my local grocery store makes $90k. The one at the hospital makes $130k. You don't hear those guys moaning about getting undercut when the hospital pharmacy cut jobs. Everyone wants more money. If the regional pays enough for that guy then who are you to belittle him? We are not entitled to anything. working together is the only way to raise the wages we all want. Respect. |

No I don't want all regional pilots to quit, I want them to make/demand more money for the size of aircraft they fly. For new entrants to the industry, I want them to value their personal investment in time and money more. Since furlough I have turned down two "jet for job" opportunities. One SkyWest and the other with Republic, I didn't even put in for the go jet position. My point with this statement is that even at second year pay you cannot support a family on that unless you: live with mom and dad, have a wife/girlfriend that subsidises your hobby, or have a trust fund to draw from. I have fallen on my sword in refusing to support the low wages at regionals by refusing to return to them even at second year pay. So I am not saying someone should do anything I have not already done. Unless we all work to improve this career it will continue to circle the drain. That includes, CFI's, Regional Pilots, LCC Pilots, and Major Pilots. Management, RAA, and ATA just love to segregate us into different groups so they can play us against each other. |

The 60 to 65 thing was a calculated risk and would have been manageable. Parking 100 mainline aircraft while increasing regional feed was not forseeable. Again I blame management for the way they fail to run an airline, the regional pilots are just allowing themselves to be pawns used to exploit conditions and enrich the senior management. |

Respect. You are also right in that we all must work together to raise wages (taking low paying jobs won't do this) which is what ALPA national should be doing. Honestly I'm not sure what National is doing because everything they touch seems to further degrade the industry. I know that the locals work very hard and do the best they can at their individual airlines so don't take my statement out of context. In my opinion National has not done very much to coordinate and unify the pilots across different airlines. |
You know the reason for my post is that i am tired of my son getting constantly screwed by his company and union! When is enough enough for this pilot group?
|
I'm sure you guys made 6 figures when you were paying your dues in the regionals though, right?
Gimme a break! Troll |

The rgionals will be in tight spot forever, just by the nature of their business. They will be cycled to the bottom the day they get too expensive. Comair/Air Whisk/Horizon.. The question is have Repub/SkyWest/Eagle learned this lesson. For pilots to maintain a higher wage than their peers for a sustained amount of time, the pilots have to provide a better service than their peers. This is one area ALPA screws their own. |

You seem like an okay guy. A tad naive perhaps, but you mean well. I understand exactly what you are saying. I put it in my own word to show how silly it is though. There is zero chance of getting every regional pilot to quit, as I said, or demand more money, as you said, tomorrow. It's never going to happen. You said you turned down regional jobs because they are below you. I'm in the same boat. I'd never go back to a regional at this point either. But as long as there is a supply of young pilots trying to get a toehold in this industry there will be crappy regionals. And the whole thing is set up by mainline managements with the help of mainline pilots. It's crazy UAL pax are flown by non UAL pilots...yet I bet today most domestic only itineraries on UAL will be flown by non UAL pilots. If you ask management they'll say they HAVE to out source in order to compete. In a world where the difference between 1st page on priceline.com and 5th page is $3, every expense counts. Now that several fleets have been parked and pilot ranks have shrunk I bet main line pilots realise the mistake of letting scope go for silly short term gains. But then there are a few that mistakenly blame the regional pilots who took the jobs mainline gave them, saying "if they just demanded as much money as we make..." If they demanded as much they wouldn't have been given the flying in the first place. |
