No, they would probably ask the controller to buy them some too, since they're [TSA] not 21 yet.
I remember when I brought a student up to the tower at K***, and he had noticed the empty pint and half pint liquor bottles on the grass by the tower door:rolleyes:   |

ATC taking partial resposibility.... this is a self-serving publicity tactic! Controllers are unionized, and like the rest of us card carriers, they are being faced with pressure for a new, cheaper labor contract by their employer. What better way to ensure that plenty of money will be available for the benefit of controller's bank accounts is to convince the tax-paying public that more money is needed... example:"we do not have enough controllers to cover a sick call or controller vacation, and now we are understaffed and people die." It is a strong move, and it will probably benefit the controller work group in the end, despite the poor initial image. At least someone in aviation can prevent the downward spiral. Now if only we pilots can convince the flying public that their ticket price is an investment in safe transportation.
i think thats the best way to look at it, this is an excellent opportunity to show that ATC is understaffed and in need of additional resources. they can definitely spin that this was the FAA's doing that they were short staffed. it could be a golden opportunity to use such a tragedy to support your cause, heck look what the president did after 9/11, we now have the TSA and Dept. of Homeland Security how much do u think we invested in those stellar organizations? |
The TSA is a STELLAR organization, they can smell alcohol standing like 30 feet away from a pilot! Plus, it is them alone why we have not had another terrorist attack in the U.S. Just ask 'em!

Of course, it's always the pilots fault and never the towers. I understand what some may say but the tower personnel and airport mgnt should be held just as accountable.
Bottom line the guys in the front seat have compasses to verify the correct runway before initiating the takeoff. Glass cockpits have extended runway centerlines as an additional aide. If the line is not straight up than that should be the first indication that something is amiss. In the end who sufferes... the passengers crewmembers and their families. Definitely an avoidable accident as most are. |

While the charts may have been out of date... the comass still works the same... RWY 26 = 260 degrees and RWY 22 = 220 degrees.

-LAFF I wouldn't be surprised if some actually went after DL as the owner of OH. In the never ending search for the deepest pockets. They bought the tkt from DL and were more than likely connecting to DL a/c. |

Remember the scumbag lawyers have to earn enough money to pay for their informative TV ads.
