Its pretty obvious that he is in pretty sorry shape. Both physically and mentally. The doctors probably dont want to put him under any more stress than he already is under. Being grilled about the accident at this stage of the game wont do him any good.

Those who say that they would never make a mistake like that one will kill more people than....... Polehinke has a very VERY hard life ahead of him. I wish him the best of luck. I to have made that mistake at LEX, but I was in a C-182Q not a CRJ. And the tower caught it.

Does anyone else think that the FAA will let KLEX tower get away with only having one controller working when TWO were required? How is it that all of the publicity will now be focused on the what the pilots did and every other aspect of the crash will be put to rest because the ______ media is sooo ______ stupid. The day of the crash, they tried to find everything they could so to make people watch their station. Now, that everything has somewhat settled down, all anyone will worry about is how and why this happened. IN MY OPINION, it happened for one simple reason which I will not say, but would venture to say most of us on probably feel the same way and understand this could happen to anyone of us on any given day(complacency).
However, the point I am trying to make is that the FAA will probably go after the pilots and waste all of their resources on persecuting these guys when in fact the control tower was KNOWINGLY OPERATING ILLEGALLY!!!! What do you think would happen if a flight crew operated without a flight attendant? How much trouble do we get in when we don't have MX sign the MX can??? I know a captain that was FIRED because a passenger boarded drunk and he was unaware of it. It is ridiculous that the FAA will PROBABLY forget about the fact that someone was caught operating illegally and that it will take who knows how long before some bureacrat knucklehead figures out that that issue should be taken care of as well as whatever comes of this.
Maybe we should send in the TSA to see if the controller smelled like alcohol??? I am sure they could still smell it three weeks later...

ATC taking partial resposibility.... this is a self-serving publicity tactic! Controllers are unionized, and like the rest of us card carriers, they are being faced with pressure for a new, cheaper labor contract by their employer. What better way to ensure that plenty of money will be available for the benefit of controller's bank accounts is to convince the tax-paying public that more money is needed... example:"we do not have enough controllers to cover a sick call or controller vacation, and now we are understaffed and people die." It is a strong move, and it will probably benefit the controller work group in the end, despite the poor initial image. At least someone in aviation can prevent the downward spiral. Now if only we pilots can convince the flying public that their ticket price is an investment in safe transportation.
