Pay is late again at Colgan

Today is payday at Colgan right? Did anyone get their check? This is starting to be a monthly issue with this company, not paying us on time.

that part of the JCBA isnt so black and white for the mesaba and colgan sides. we still get paid every 2 weeks at mesaba. i hear its up to the company when they want to change it but I'd doubt they would do it over night.

ok. Yeah we have a lot of guys who go kicking and screaming on our airlink website about the pay not being in on the 15. then we have to tell them pay is on the 16th. its a recurring theme every 4 months or so. the company will give its best efforts to give you your pay on Friday if the 16th falls on a weekend. Whats funny is I just checked and I was paid. Kinda weird that they paid us when they didn't have to but didn't pay colgan when they had to.

Sonny Crockett 04-15-2011 07:07 AM

....had another "Glitch" should start seeing deposits by 1030 AM as per the latest crew trac message.

Let's hope they don't hire "the Bobs" and fix the glitch.

Blackbird 04-15-2011 08:19 AM

I'm tired of glitches, my plane is going to start having a glitch

Section 3.Q of the JCBA says they have to pay us on the 15th if the 16th is a weekend or holiday. Best efforts is not applicable anymore....

Thought it was sounding like Africa, but no.

Africa 30 days late is normal, know a number of guys months late, and one guy that didn't get paid for two years.

Blackbird 04-15-2011 11:23 AM

Thanks Juice, still no money. I'll be calling and yelling at 3:01.

Blackbird 04-15-2011 11:29 AM

So no one is answering that number

Don't worry everybody will still show up and do their job, just like last time.

The Juice 04-15-2011 11:39 AM

Phone lines crashed or they have been taken off line.

Blackbird 04-15-2011 11:51 AM

Has anyone got paid?

The Juice 04-15-2011 12:19 PM

They need to fire the payroll department. How many F-ups do you get?

JetBlast77 04-15-2011 12:21 PM

Just remember guys, its all worth it for that "quick upgrade"!

sinsilvia666 04-15-2011 12:28 PM

great how pilots cant make one mistake and if they do u hear about it for years. but everyone else at the company can screw up any and everything, and make it better w a witty memo. bullsh*t.

Deice Press 04-15-2011 06:02 PM

Colgan payroll is absolutely embarrassing... We all already knew they can't handle getting the paychecks right but now they forgot to send them out at all? It's almost comical.

jheath 04-16-2011 12:31 AM

For the record, I got a hand delivered check from Colgan today (5 days into indoc)...

It may or may not have been for a whopping $17.97 ($20 uniform allowance after taxes). In their defense, we started on the 11th and the payroll cutoff for the check that should have come out today was the 8th.

And how is that in their defense, all that tells me is they don't know when the cut off date is

usmc-sgt 04-16-2011 05:21 AM

I was paid today, the 16th. Have never not been paid by the company.

There may be glitches or issues but never a shortage of money and I have never gone 1 day past payday without my money. The world will continue to turn.

Marticat 04-16-2011 05:29 AM

I thought the Federal Reserve and the rest of the banking system was closed on Saturdays. Was it an actual physical (paper) type of check ? If so, can you turn it into real cash or do you have to wait till Monday?

I hope you are not trying to justify them paying you late. Even 1 day late should be inexcusable. It is inexcusable. And the fact that it seems to be a recurring problem should have you concerned.

sinsilvia666 04-17-2011 12:59 PM

paychecks, bids, base opening/closures, training, NOTHING is ever done correctly at this place or ontime....but those suits are still throwin out thousand dollar bonus's left and right.

the contract says the 16th,,,,,, it also says on a weekend that they will try and pay the 15th but its not madatory.

No where does it say its not mandatory. It plainly says if the 16th falls on a weekend or banking holiday then everyone will be payed on the 15th.

It does not say "We will try to pay on the 15th or we might pay on the 15th" it says everyone will be payed.

Wording like that in a contract does not leave room for interpretation, its plainly says we were supposed to be paid on the 15th and for whatever reason we were not. That is a violation of the JCBA.

What can we do about? Not much. Hopefully it doesnt happen again.

100% correct, plain english in the JCBA.

I am more so concerned with the number of pilots I here on the forums defending the practice of a company paying their employees when they want. The one new hire who gave a "in their defense" excuse is a joke. The company has screwed with many of our pilots this year regarding pay and they continue to screw up.

There is no excuse for the continued F-ups by this company, no excuse (and I am someone who got paid and I am still upset for those who did not, especially those who are tight on the finances)

Some of you guys are too tightly wound. I was trying to bring some levity to the situation by saying, being how the cutoff for this paycheck was the 8th, and my date of hire is the 11th, I'm willing to cut them some slack. I'm not really defending anything. It was a joke, pure and simple. I shouldn't have received anything, but it's odd they chose to pay us just a uniform allowance.

I thought the joke was obvious. Apologies to anyone who misunderstood.

Farmlover 04-17-2011 06:12 PM

Man u guys need to calm down lol

Blackbird 04-18-2011 05:49 AM

I don't know about you but my baby mamma wants her money on time every month. When she doesn't get paid, she gets really ugly. You might have heard of her, Sallie Mae.

PBSG 04-18-2011 06:49 AM

I hope some Colgan folks are gonna take a stand and refuse to work when their paycheck isn't in the bank. I can't call my mortgage company and say "I didn't get paid, so I'm gonna be late with the house payment". That stuff doesn't fly with them, and it shouldn't fly with the pilots of Colgan either.

And before people jump on me, no - it isn't an illegal work stoppage. It's actually quite simple:Pay me.

FlyJSH 04-18-2011 07:35 AM

My landlord charges $50 per day for every day my check is late. Maybe we should do that too!

Colganguy 04-18-2011 12:25 PM

Why can't we just grieve the late pay issue? Its in the contract, they did not follow the contract, so we grieve it. Hold their feet to the fire.

visceral 04-18-2011 06:22 PM

I'm tired of reading your apology letters Harry and Buddy. How many times can you screw up payroll before you get fired at PCL? Playing with my money is like playing with my emotions.
