Well, we know where the growth and new hires will be going in the next year. Should be another big upgrade class announced soon.

Wasn't Delta at it's maximum # of RJ's? I thought after Compass added 12 that there was no room for anymore...??

Translation: we'd rather fly these E170s at cost+1% for Delta than loose a single penny flying them in Frontier colors.

Compass had 12, then TSA announced it was cut to 6 last week, and here we are.

Upgrades? Try displacement. No new aircraft replacing these. Just a shift on which certificate they fly on.

Is it me, or is Delta an enigma? Everyone thought they would dump RAH when we bought MEA and F9. They announce 8 170s in Jan. They announce routes out of MCI that directly compete with RAH. Now they add 6 more 170s today.

This, sadly, has been the trend for the past decade. I believe that it is also the framework for the future. As more and more mainline pilots retire, they shall be replaced by cheaper regional jet labor. The regional jets keep on getting bigger and the scopes will get looser and looser. No doubt the C-Series and CRJ1000 will only further my point.

I wish I could go back in time 20 years to tell a mainline pilot that someday regionals would have 4000+ pilots and fly 90 seat jets. The pilot would no doubt say, "you're totally insane! Regionals just started flying turboprops with pressurized cabins!!!"

What's the nature of the current contracts with AMR, UA, DAL, and US? Which one expires first and which one runs the longest? It seems like morale has been pretty low there lately, what are the main issues? Thanks.
