I'd take the line. You'll probably end up with more days off, so if you have to come in early or miss the last flight it won't be so bad. Also, your line probably will be over guarantee with summer approaching so you'll make more money.

Bid the base you want to be at. Chasing a line is absolutely stupid. Flying changes, lines swap from base to base, others senior to you do this exact thing and chase flying.... Go where you've wanted to be based and stick it out And pay your dues.... Especially as an fo!!!!! As a captain I'd say bid every base to upgrade and then bid to where you want to be.

Not every line is better than reserve. If it's day trips or standups(CDO or high speeds, whatever you call em) than you will still need a crashpad. standups will fatigue the heck out of you and make your days off seem like one big nap. So why not have a shorter commute with regular reserve and work on your tan this summer?

I know your pain...I could hold a line in June at my current base, but made the decision a while ago to transfer to the base I want to be in because it is a one leg commute.

For me, the extra month of reserve (I hold a line in July at the new base) is most likely going to be worth it. The last three weeks that I commuted to work they canceled at least one flight on my second leg. On the best day it took me 7 hours to get here...yuck! I'll take the nine direct flights from home to the new base.
