Mid level seniority should get you 15 days off regularly. 20 is a bit of a rarity but very possible especially on the international side.

17-18 are quite common for the more senior on the list.

Its not as glamorous as it seems and it takes YEARS to start seeing upwards of 17 days off.

It would vary wildly depending on who wants it. The only thing in common would likely be max days off such as 18-20 or so and weekends off. Anything at all that holds that combination would be senior in any airline. After that it is anyones guess.

For me, as a commuter, although day trips are typically productive and worth more money they are the absolute last thing I would want. Maybe second to last ahead of reserve. Staying in a crashpad every day I work is not worth the extra 15 hours of pay. When I was a senior FO my perfect trip was a combination of max days off, max pay credit and 100% commutable on both ends. A bonus was when I would overnight close to home.

As a junior guy now my perfect "trip" is a line...any line.
That's an absurd statement. Just because your airline doesn't have senior trips does not mean all regionals do not have senior trips. I am no longer at regional but when I was there, we had plenty of senior trips that had overnights longer than 14 hours at popular destinations, 4 day trips with 24 to 26 credits. It's no different in the large corporate world. Senior guys snap up desirable trips.

That would be an absurd statement. Your reading comprehension was just a tad off this morning.

That was in reference to us not bidding on "flights" per se and that we bid on trips or lines. I am aware that regionals and mainline alike both have senior pairings and lines.

My mistake if that's what you meant. I just returned from a Transoceanic trip so I am still suffering from a jet lag.

A good officer does not mind being corrected by a noncom.

Anything to FLL. Oh, wait, you're talking about the crew, not pax.

haha thanks..

Had I known I would have responded like this....

With all due respect sir,

This is what all my Marines would say to me (minus the sir) when they were going to say something out of place.

Are a lot of guys working 15 days or less at regionals?
It's possible at the regional level, but far from the norm. But take into account that schedules are CONSTANTLY changing, and that sweet 2 leg high block day trip may have to be broken up and divided into a multi day to bring up average daily credit. As well as the company flat out not serving a specific destination anymore.

But some that my company used to do that would have the pilots working 11 days a month on day trip/turns were IAH-BOI, IAH-PSP, EWR-NAS, IAH-NAS, LAX-ACA, LAX-TRC, etc. Pretty cool as it pays well and the total time on duty is maybe 9-9.5 hours. There's also the type of day trip that may encompass 4, 6, or 8 legs also. A 4 leg variety can super suck; Show up early, do turn to somewhere, get back to domicile, drag bags to 3-4 hour sit. Drag bags to new airplane, do turn, finish day and go home.

But there's also such things as 2 day trips crediting 14-14.5 hours and are back to back for a total of 12 working days, or 4 days crediting 27-28 hours. The can ALSO make you feel like you've had the crap beaten out of you when you're done with them.

But just because these things many be high up in the bid pack does not mean that may always go senior. The above types of trips are rarely, if ever commutable. If the domicile is commuter heavy, they may go a little more "junior", but not much. There's also senior guys that live in base that will bid 4 day trips because they like to knock it all out in one shot without driving back and forth to the airport all the time, and basically reduce resting themselves EVERY night all for the sake of "sleeping in their own bed".

And to add to the the mix, if credit is that important (for whatever reason), a company may allow you to advertise/trade/drop trips, or portions of trips to get more time off. Key word is "may", most regional airlines can't staff worth a crap.
