It is my understanding that depending on how the time line works, these interim members get to elect the new MEC, this gives them the possibility to hold a lot of power to shape the future Union. That is why these elections are supposedly so important. I am too apathetic to really care how the elections turn out at this point.
If you are correct, that the interim reps get to elect the MEC, then it is a good thing if the bases end up split among the groups, right? That means at some level, there is going to have to be compromise for someone to become MEC-level representative.
