Not true. Many are aware of the pay. Although, I gotta say my take home monthly is right around 3k which isnt bad for 1st yr. FA's know that the regional is a starting block and many know that in the long run it'll pay off. Some FA's just want the title of being a pilots girlfriend, wife or mistress. |
Wow...a pilot's mistress; what aspirations!
That's actually great pay for a first year, from what I'm told. Nice! |

Lol-yeah, I'm the first! When he was first considering flight school, the recruiter he was working with at the school told me "he'll be gone all the time, won't make much money and cheat on you multiple times." What a great guy, right?
If you want to avoid the cheating, fatten him up, keep yourself thin, and be sure to be "in the mood" when he walks in the door. |

Hi FlyHusband! I hear ya about the support group-it isn't an easy career to have your spouse in, but it could always be worse-at least that's what I tell myself!

I've been in this industry for twenty years and, while it took my wife a little while to get used to my schedule (not long), it's a normal part of her life now. She's never had a reason to worry about me cheating on her either. Also, your husband can easily stay in shape in this industry, as long as he's committed to it. I always try to find a gym within hotel shuttle van distance at my layover cities, and I make an effort to actually eat well all the time. It can be done.
It'll be a little different for you at first, but you'll get used to the schedules. Whenever possible, you guys should take advantage of the travel benefits and go somewhere. It's a heck of a perk. |
That's encouraging! One of my best friend's husband's got hired about . 2 months ago. The day he left for training I drove her to the emergency room-she couldn't keep anything down. She'd given herself an ulcer! She's doing pretty good with it now, though.
And if anyone can stay fit as a pilot, it will be my husband-he'd saw off his arm before he missed a workout! We actually HAD flight benefits for about 8 months-the school he went to, now Aerosim, was once Delta Connection Academy, so once he became an instructor we got bene's. Flew business elite class to and from South Africa-it was amazing! |
I'm a happy FlyWife...been through flight school and the whole nine yards...he's been an FO for five years and we have four kids! Its tough sometimes, but totally do-able. AND if your Hubby is committed to you, its not a problem to have a relationship with a pilot! :) Its finally starting to pay off a bit, and life will keep getting better as the kids get older, pay increases, seniority increases...etc. The first year SUCKED, and second wasnt much better....but so worth it! :) The perks are amazing...and I am so grateful for them as I was able to go back and forth to see my mom before she died...
Good luck to you guys! :) |

If yes, then tell him to make sure his 141 school paperwork comes back from the school before interview. |

@PilotsWife4-I love hearing happy pilot-family stories! I know his first few years will suck-flight school and flight instructing has sucked, but it'll pay off!

I know someone who went to DCA 2007-2009. He was sent back within 30 mins on the interview day for the exact same reason, DCA changed to Aerosim & Eagle couldn't verify the 141 stage checks PRIA info......, seems odd but that's what I was told... Tell your hubby to be pro-active about it.... |
I will definitely tell him-that would be a disaster! Hubs was at DCA starting in 2007 as well!
