It isn't much but it is a slight increase in quality of life. Reserve rules are horrible here in general. How we justified a contract that gives line holders an extra week off a month and pays them more than people on reserve I will never know. That is 84 more days off a year.

Thank you for your input, the way I see it, I'm a new hire and bottom of reserve until LGA supposedly closes as Mesaba will not have any more new hire classes behind us. I am realistic about my situation and I realize I will be on reserve, so any increase in QOL is just a bonus. I will bid it and if I get it I guess I will see how it goes.

By the way, if I get switched to SCR from LCR, am I expected to show up within the 2 hour timeframe or would the switch happen the day before in that 1000 to 1300 period?

They will let you know today that you have short call reserve tomorrow.

The only time I have held LCR I sure got escalated. My buddies, both FO and CA have always been escalated both times every month they've been on LCR.

For whatever its worth, 2 weeks of LCR is better than nothing, but LCR is definately not as good as it sounded at first. Specially if the 2 weeks that you are actually on LCR you will be used first as soon as some flying pops up...

Might be off topic but this pertains to 9E, XJ, and 9L as well. If you are 9L would you still get jumpseat commuting priority with XJ and 9E or would you be the same priority as anyone else commuting from a different company?

I haven't personally tried it, as we don't go where I go, however, that's the way I understand it. We're all one company when it comes to jumpseat priority. I think in the recent past it hadn't been that way and Mesaba jumpseaters were being bumped off Pinnacle aircraft in lieu of offline jumpseaters, or something like that. Someone who actually commutes on company would have to back me up here but I think it took effect right about the time the ISL came out.

Wrong, I've sent this question to JCBA hotline, and they said the SLI/JCBA did not address this. Jumpseat policy and priority is left up to the company. Each company needs to update their FOM to bring this change about. Contact your respective company's jumpseat committee to help get this changed.

No, I know it's not a contractual thing, I was just under the impression that the three jumpseat committees had gotten together to make the appropriate changes and the timing just happened to have coincided to around June or so. I apparently stand corrected.

pretty pathetic over a year after the acquisition of XJ, a JCBA and ISL we still haven't changed our jumpseat policy to promote our unity as an organization. Spread the word to your fellow crew members to contact their jumpseat committee to press their company to get this accomplished.

I bumped an Air Tran guy out of a 9E seat and I am 9L... The gate agents were aware it was company. Maybe they read APC and know about our merger

Thank you. Funny I read that part of the contract about LCR and completely missed the part about SCR and remaining SCR for the balance of the reserve sequence.

Oh, there's lots and lots and lots of little gems like this in the contract....
