Quote: Expect the unexpected mate. If you took a snapshot of the "regionals" ten years ago, you'd have a hard time recognizing them. I'd like to think that things would even be status quo in another ten years, but the threat of regionals growing and majors shrinking is very real. Not certain, but very much a possibility.
But there's an even bigger threat that the regionals will shrink if they don't attempt an IndyAir.

The next 10 years will look nothing like that last 10...........and that’s guaranteed……

Quote: Trans States Airlines will never fly the MRJ. More likely GoJets gets 'em
That was probably true until this week. Now, as a DCI carrier, GoJet can not operate any aircraft with that many seats. The MRJs would need to go on the TSA certificate or have about 30 seats deferred RAH-style.

Quote: My post is condescending? Really? That post was a typical he said she said speculating rumor. My post was sarcastic, but it was certainly not condescending.
Yeah, I don't get it either... didn't really think it was even that sarcastic. I'm pretty sure that if the "IT" guys (of the world at large) were in charge of keeping the vault on capital expenditures, the SEC would be busy. Really, no sarcasm intended, that notion just does not lend itself to credibility.

Quote: The truly sad reality is that if you won't fly a 70+ seater, somebody else is more than willing to do it for you. In fact, they already are.
There are still mainlines that have heavy restrictions on anything over 50 seats... soon, one will be gone as CO is gobbled up by the weaker scope of UA... but they did obtain a temporary win against the onslaught of SJS folks.

That's what I think.

This purchase may have to do with UAL wanting to sell some of its 767s, 737s, and A320s in exchange to be flown by 200, 95 seat RJs which will be operated by XJT. However the union called a BS flag on that one really quick.

Someone's been drinking some rumor Kool-Aid. The 250 - 94 seaters are an opening point for their scope negotiations, in other words it's not what they're expecting. One side starts high the other low and they'll probably meet where they currently are which will hopefully include future shrinkage of 51+ RJ feed.

Below is UAL/CALs opening proposal.
"Industry Competitive Regional Flying restrictions:
o 250 maximum large (less than 95 seats) regional jets (no restriction on props)
o Maximum 6% regional jet flying between hubs
o Minimum 90% into/out of Key/Hub Cities
o Add large regional jets for increases in active mainline fleet (consistent with Delta)"

Why would they raise the BS flag on that one? It's much easier to raise the 'what the **** are you smoking to believe that rumor' flag.
