American Eagle Offer Rescinded

Ok, so I interviewed with Eagle a few weeks ago, and got the pre-offer of employment. Now today I get home and I have a certified letter from them stating that:

"you have not successfully completed the remaining portions of the pilot selection process. We are, therefore, rescinding our offer of employment effective immediately."

Anyone have any idea why this may be? Do I have a right to know why?

Have anything you failed to disclose background wise? Something minor like a traffic ticket that you didn't admit to is enough for Eagle to say thanks but no thanks.

You are probably better off. After a long time AE empl, you do not have any rights.
And looking at whats developing there now, don't waste your time, start looking at another outfit, between Comair and AE migration you "could" end up better off.

So, don't look at this letter as something negative.

I personally know of 5 good friends that for one or another reason didn't get on with AE in 2000-2001, two other friends and myself did. It Was disastrous.

The other 5 are well ahead of us with QoL, salary and seat time.

Best of luck to you.

I'm 100% sure I covered everything, I had one speeding ticket 9 years ago, which i disclosed on my app. I did leave an employer (also around 9 years ago) without giving a 2 weeks notice, and also left my last flying job (almost 2 years ago, also discussed at HR interview) without giving 2 weeks notice.

The employer that I worked for has a really bad reputation where I live, but also has a reputation of trying to screw up careers of pilots that used to work for him. My best guess is this is the guy...

These are the only 2 things I can think of that would maybe put a damper on the app. I am honestly considering legal action against him if this is going to be an issue for the rest of my pilot career, and that's why I am wondering if there is some way I can determine what the issue was/is.

Thank you Sailor, it's just a little disappointing.

It varies from state to state what a previous employer can disclose. Some states, such as Texas, cannot even state whether you are rehirable, others can pretty much rip you apart.

Unfortunately, Eagle won't be telling you the issue, so you are unlikely to find out for sure what the issue is.

Did you get scheduled for the Captain's Review Board or whatever that is that Eagle does?

In time you'll come to find a lot of that in this industry.

Keep your chin up.

Cheers

No captains review board, no medical scheduled.

Must have been something in the background check they did before scheduling that then. If you disclosed everything than its possible someone just screwed you.

Like everyone said, keep your chin up and keep looking.
