Default Hiring minimums

I'll apologize if this has been discussed at length before, but at the time of this post I don't have enough posts for the search function yet.....go figure

Anyway I'm wondering if anyone can maybe help me regarding hiring mins. I'm pretty far off before I start applying at places, but I look at the mins for certain companies and for example Air Wisky lists 1000/250 for their mins. Yet I see on certain other gouge websites that people get hired with lower times, and I'm wondering whether or not anyone catches grief from companies for applying with time lower than the mins. It seems this is pretty common across the board with airlines.

Like I said I still have a little ways to go, but I guess I would just like some insight as to how people with lower time apply at these places (mail resumes for example?), and also what their response would be if asked why they apply when not meeting posted mins.

Hope that makes some sense, thanks in advance for the input.

I'm at 600/330 and I've asked friends at both regionals and majors whether or not I should even bother applying if I dont meet the mins. I have heard the same answer from everyone. "Apply!! because the worst they can do is say no or not call." So I've applied everywhere.

I haven't heard of anyone catching grief for applying below mins. It seems to me it is much easier to get an interview while below mins if your resume is walked in and if you have more ME time than they require. 135 and turbine also helps.

Apply early, apply often

Some places have minimums that are below their published mins for graduates of university or special programs (such as ATP). As far as applying below mins, some places have systems that automatically discard resumes that do not meet specific time requirements. Other airlines routinely hire below their minimums if they are really hurting for pilots (like TSA) while others are famous for not budging on their requirements (like Skywest). If you are applying and you don't meet the minimums, hopefully you have something that makes you more competitive. Like another poster said, the worst that can happen is they tell you to update your resume when you meet their minimums or you just wont hear anything at all.

ditto exxcaliburs point. APPLY. and keep updating....once a month perhaps.

FWIW if you have 100 ME XJT is hiring a lot lately....

was down in IAH today and they have 3-4 classes this month and 3 scheduled for next month (1 is a double class)....thats over 100 pilots in October/November (16 per class).... i think i read somewhere 500TT with the multi.... its worth a shot.

If you have scads of multi or turbine time, or a recommendation from the inside, you have a great chance of getting a call for a lot of regionals. Seems that lately the only one that religiously sticks to their minimums is SkyWest.

Shupubliqua will not give you a class date without 1500/300 unless you're DCA...that doesn't mean you can't get the interview though...
