Really? You're thrilled about a Chick-fil-A? Is it you're thrilled because it's a Chick-fil-A and that's better than McDonald's .... or, just that there's something there now filling the void? Not flaming, just curious .... Not much of a fast food connoisseur. Kind of feel like there is little difference between good fast food and bad fast food!

But, if this makes you happy, I'm thrilled for you!

Chic-fil-A is going to fill a void on the C concourse.

Chick-Fil-A is closed on Sunday for religious purposes.

I know this and this would be an explanation for the 'closed on sunday' comments, but in response to this

it doesn't make sense.

This thread is fat.

Avroman 02-22-2012 04:10 AM

Too bad we couldn't have the CEO of Chick-fil-a become the CEO of an airline. It would be nice bidding knowing that I would always have Sundays off.

They use the stores for religious purposes on Sundays?

Farmlover 02-22-2012 04:37 AM

Guys these things are on every corner!! Why would you get this excited??

You ever spent time in MSP? Especially around A, B & C gates? The choices are horrible! I dislike the fact that CFA’s closed on Sundays but that’s they’re right.

Adding a Chick-Fill-A to the C concourse is a huge improvement over the crap that’s currently there, now if we can just get a Burrito Beach. Lol.

Elvis90 02-22-2012 04:55 AM

I LOVE Chic-Fil-A! I am rejoicing, being MSP based. When I commute in from Texas, I usually eat "Wok and Roll", but now I'll go to Concourse C for this.

Except on Sundays, of course. ;)

xj200capt 02-22-2012 05:13 AM

It will be interesting to see if they can maintain the Sunday off policy. I have become friends with a few of the store owners and I'm under the impression that that stores need to be open 7 days a week.

My problem with them booting McDonalds is that you knew they were cooking new burgers. I have a problem with restaurants that pull a precooked patty out of the fridge, build the burger, throw it in the microwave and serve. I have gotten sick from these type of preps.

The other problem is that McDonalds at G1 was open 24 hours. Oftentimes this was the only choice late at night.

detpilot 02-22-2012 05:30 AM

There are no chick fil-a's in Michigan, so I'm always glad to have one in an airport. As for the Sundays thing, don't buy into the franchise if you don't agree with them being open on Sundays. I applaud chick fila for putting conviction over profit, and they seem to do just fine.

DENpilot 02-22-2012 05:52 AM

I'm not even based in MSP, and I rarely pass through there, and I AM EXCITED!

mooney 02-22-2012 05:58 AM

The only better news than this would be the opening of the 72nd BBQ restaurant in the MEM terminal!!!!
Now when do we get Chik-fil-et at mem??????:(

Actually there is one by Oakland University.

Speaking of not being open on Sundays.....I am a Midwesterner that went away to college in the south back in the 70s. Imagine my surprise when on my first Sunday away from home I try to find a place to buy some socks, and find that every single store in town is closed.

It was explained by my fellow students that the stores were closed because of the "Blue Laws." Sundays were to be a day of rest for everyone, and subsequently businesses were closed on that day. People didn't shop; they went to the park, went to church, or otherwise just annoyed one another.

I revisited that town on a Sunday last summer, and saw that many of the businesses were closed. I don't think that it was blue laws so much as obamanonomics.

To be certain, you mean stores completely closed down-out of business?

makersmarc 02-22-2012 07:32 AM

Both, though it can be hard to tell why. I am told that a lot of businesses just don't get the foot traffic to stay open 7 days a week. WalMart would be the exception, I am sure.

I worked in dine-in fast food when I was younger, and Sunday was a slow day for sure, with Mondays being the slowest. Friday lunch was always the busiest.

Bryan K. Bedford Profile - Forbes.com

Done and done.

Avroman 02-22-2012 11:30 AM

Bedford never gave his employees Sundays off. (or holidays for that matter)

I believe they run the risk of losing their franchise if they open on a Sunday.

Well he's gotta step up the Christ factor a bit.

I'll send him an email. :D

It's slowly going away (in SC anyway). First it was stores could open at 1 pm on Sunday - no beer or liquor, except in restaurants. Now some counties allow Sunday beer sales some don't. Liquor stores and Chik-fil-a are still closed on Sundays.

They're closed on Sundays at their ATL store, too. I'm sure "closed Sundays" was written into the MSP lease.

Late last year, Delta Air Lines booted the chain's two locations from Concourse G, which it controls, because it wanted to refine the dining experience with higher-scale eateries.
Chick-fil-A is a privately held business and part of its corporate purpose statement is "to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us."
The chain vows to never open on Sundays, to give workers time to rest and worship if they choose.
But some of Chick-fil-A's charitable contributions have gotten it into trouble. The company had donated free food to the Pennsylvania Family Institute, prompting any outcry from gay rights groups.

I would rather give my money to any other food place in MSP, than the replacement of McDonalds.

The Chick-Fil-A in ATL’s A-concourse is closed on Sundays and they're doing just fine. I’ve never heard of a CFA that’s open on Sunday.

I can't tell you how many Sundays I woke up craving their Minis.......

80ktsClamp 02-22-2012 04:14 PM

There is a direct correlation to my craving of chick-fil-a and it being Sunday.
