so we have been talking for years about how higher requirements (ie: the atp) would push companies, especially regionals to raise pay for those entering and then eventually those above them and now you guys are complaining about the first step?
Pinnacle canceled its march first officer class because it couldn't fill it. They couldnt fill it because like you guys said they need people who will have atp mins by august of next year and so does every other company. So good pilots with those times now have their pick of the litter. The company NEEDS something inorder to business. They NEED to increase FO pay to hire ne people. So this is the first step. Compensation and work rules will come for the rest of the pilot group. This is just the first step. |

Pinnacle was filling classes months in advance. They started having people pull out during the wait because some other job came up. If they decided to bail because of a perceived situation on the horizon that is just more proof that those aplicants have their pick of the litter. |

Anyone who doesn't understand why it would be a poor decision to accept this offer from buttford really needs to have a remedial RLA lesson.

Take the money and run!!!! In the short term, the very underpaid will get some relief. In the long term, it will NOT effect your negotiations in the least bit. Mismanagement will drag their feet until someone puts a gun to their heads to a contract done.
I am speaking from prior experience at 9E where they tried the same thing. At the time I was dead set against it even though I would have gotten the raise. Looking back at it now, I should have taken the money and ran. Forcing 3 more years of poverty wages did nothing to speed the process of the contract and people were still lining up to take our low paying jobs. |
As a RAH FO I will say, all FOs will take the money, we don't have a choice, but the smart ones will put it to the side so that when the Union / Pilots sues or gets released to strike. We will do this so it won't hurt the wallet quite as much when the company has to take it back. This is an obvious illegal sham forced upon us by the company to try and circumvent the negotiations. Its not any more legal than if they had taken money from our checks. I haven't talked to one of our pilots that thinks any different. If pilots will just say away for a little while longer all this will be worked out by new contract. For now, do all RAH and "regional pilots" in general a favor and say away for a bit. Most of us here would rather see the place burn than not have a real industry leading contract as management has been burning us for years. 99.9 % of us were ready to walk years ago. Give us some time to get the leading contract we ALL need and that other regionals will work off of to "lead" in the future. We are all pilots and short of a national list we can only try and unite together whichever company you work or want to work for to get the best for everyone. We must ALL try and recapture some of what Mgmt and the Senior pilots of the late 80s through 90s have done to us. Rant over.....Over.

If that's the case, you may be mistaken as to his background and where he's been. As well as what he may have seen in his past as far as how management runs things. If I'm wrong about the OP, oh well........ Heres to hoping RAH pilots can hold out and get a great contract that will make all this a distant memory. |
