XJT hiring update

Hey all,

For those of you wondering, our last new hire class before summer starts is on May 14th. Hiring will wind down through the summer months so check airman can hit the line and fly. Also any hiring after mid-May does us no good since those guys will hit the line more towards the slow-down months after summer.

We are still hiring into a pool. Classes may be scheduled in June/July/August depending on attrition, projected block hour increases, or additional flying. Otherwise, expect things to ramp back up in September.

Company tells us they are slowly increasing the mins bc of the ATP rule.

Get 1500 hrs. We received an internal e-mail laying it all out, if you don't think you'll have the required time don't even bother. We have guys here already that aren't able to make the cut and they have been given no guidance or what there future here might be.

It kind of boggles my mind that we might have pilots that won't end up with enough time. I could understand if they are on a long term leave of absence or have an injury, but barring that they still have, what, about 14 months? Even the reserve guys should be getting at least 60 hours of flying or so each month, right? Do we really have people sitting around 700 hrs total time right now? I can't imagine we've hired anyone with less than 1000 total time over the past few months.

I wonder how big an issue that's really going to be.

Flew with an FO the other day, fresh off IOE, who said he had about 800 hours. They are out there.

True, but I think 800 hrs will be okay. Only has to average about 50 hrs/month of block time. Seems doable

We currently have 278 FOs who don't meet the ATP requirement, because of flight time, age, etc.

The big question is, how many of them are in a situation where it is impossible to meet the ATP requirement by next August whether it be because of age or flightime?

Is that legacy xjt, legacy ASA, or the combined company?
