New flying for G7?

G7 has hired a class of 40 for June and another class of over 40 in July... That's a 20% increase in staffing in just two months. Anyone know what's up?

Salukipilot4590 06-14-2012 03:23 AM

Yeah....they're making sure everyone gets IN....

Pure moderator win. Well played sir!

Wingtips 06-14-2012 05:36 AM

they need to restaff since they got some people who quit, killed themselves, went back to united, or pulled their gun out driving home and pulled someone over thinking being an FFDO also made them a cop.

N927EV 06-14-2012 05:52 AM

Probably hiring to cover the dal flying they already have coupled with flow backs going back to ual.

I didn't know United has a flow back with them. Anyone know how many UAL has on furlough still?

Boomer 06-14-2012 07:13 AM

My favorite Lear is Heather Locklear.

They are still taking delivery of the 12 total 700's from ASA/Skywest. I believe they still have 3-4 more to take delivery of/place on line. Nothing earth shattering.
Why exactly do people look for trouble? It's summer. Go outside and find something to do!

I'm certain it's not a flow agreement. It was simply preferential hiring.

It was part of the Jets-for-Jobs program that was reincarnated from the furloughs in 2002. I think there were 30-40 UAL furloughs at gojet that took jobs at CAL when they became available.

You are referring to "jets for jobs," right? ;)

Get In the jets Before The door Locks

The IBTL posts are hilarious...

Seriously though, all 12 Delta planes are already on property and staffed. There are only a few UAL guys still around.. most have already returned. 20% in 2 months is very suspicious.

They need people for the ATP requirements. If the FAA starts enforcing the "good moral character" part, they'll only have maybe 2-3 pilots total.

I think Mesa might be losing some United CRJ-700 airframes soon. Maybe around 4-5 jets...

Maybe United decided not to renew with Mesa and wants GoJet to fly those planes?

It's probably too early for Delta to give GoJet more planes since they just started operating as a DCI carrier and Delta probably wants to see how GoJet does with the current DCI planes before adding more...

We all know GoJet has the lowest costs, so it's no surprise to hear rumors about them possibly picking up more contracts.

hemaybedid 06-14-2012 09:27 AM

My company announced this month something like six lines of flying out of LGA for July. I assumed this was to cover GoJet flying they couldn't staff. If that's the case and other carriers are covering some too, then their staffing increase makes sense.

N927EV 06-14-2012 11:26 AM

There was a rumor going around about them doing AA stuff. Could be that.

well American is going to be the ones responsible for the 70+ seaters coming, ie the ones leasing/buying them. I highly highly highly highly highly doubt, based on previous experience, that they will then let any part of Trans States Holding operate those airplanes. Ever flown 601-607 since their last failed agreement.

I have seen them and they look like crap, but I haven't flown them, I have flown as a pax and those airplanes are in not the best in the fleet to say the least, kinda like the RAH 140 they fly for AA!
