RAH Bonus or Bogus?

Has anyone received the $5000 hiring bonus, or have any info on it?
I have a class date. I have offer letter and training info but no mention of the bonus described at the recruiting event... Inquiring minds want to know!

I interviewed yesterday. Nothing in writing but was told that half will be given soon after training starts and the other half when training is completed. I hope this is not a motivation for you or anyone to go to a particular company. If it is they are cheap!

I'm in ground school and we were told on the second day that we will be getting the bonus. That being said, I'm almost at the end of the second week and have not seen it.

Just for your info, the training contract was 15k but they uped it to 20k when they announced the bonus. So your 2 yr commitment covers the 5k plus the 15k for training. Keep that in mind if you bail prior to the two years and they didn't pay you the 5k and want you to pay them for bailing.

Has nothing to do with being cheap whatsoever. I don't need the money. Has everything to do with them honoring their word, and what to expect in the future from a prospective employer. That said some people may need the money to make their own personal budget during year 1 at a regional economically feasible-

They certainly wanted me to expedite their $20k training agreement w my signature on it It's just business to have it in writing, and as stated there is no mention in the offer letter.

I actually do not have a problem with a training contract. They are making a sizeable investment in my skill set and I think it only fair they should get some return on that. I just hope I am not being duped w the bonus. It would suck to start the job and already be bitter, lol

If you don't get it in writing it doesn't mean a thing. And, be careful what you agree to and SIGN. (Honoring their word?)

I remember RAH was offering a $2500 bonus back in '07 for people with CRJ SICs in hand already. I personally know a few guys that bailed another airline for RAH to collect the bonus, but then ended up getting assigned the ERJ and were told the bonus only applies if they were assigned the CRJ (back when they flew them as Continenal Connection). Bait and switch much?

Also, any airline requiring you to sign a 2 year agreement should tell you something. I think it's ridiculous!

I interviewed Tuesday in IAH. They said we should here something by monday, anyone who interviewed last week hear anything different? Also, how many people interviewed wednesday and thursday? 15 on Tuesday. I left feeling pretty good about my interview, and felt I nailed it.

And P.S. unless you are working for a charity or religious organization, money is ALWAYS an issue! Companies are in business to make it and employees are there to earn a living for themselves or their loved ones. I you get on with Republic, feel free to ship me your bonus, if it exists, so you can defend your moral ground whatever that is... (22year olds for noncheapishness.org)???
