Dtw pilots question

Why when taxiing out of 4N and ground clears you to hold short of U8 are the ground controllers so adamant about a runway readback. Your clearance limit does not cross any runways and the next conroller actually gives you a clearance to your runway. Tried to ask a controller the other day, wouldnt give me a answer.

Yea they are anal about runway assignment readback on the first call in dtw. But my biggest concern up there is not losing a wheel on taxiway M.

Aside from the fact that its required to read back runway hold short instructions, the following probably has a lot to do with it, in addition to the red hold lights (and occasional cones) on 9L at 21R.

Agreed taxiway mike is pretty bad, they ought to redo the whole taxiway instead of doing a patch job.

The read back is for the runway assignment. I know they forget to give that to us sometimes, but if they give it to us they want us to read it back.

It is a required read-back. In DTW they are super anal about it.

Because it's required and they requested it. Just do it. So you're that guy on ATC who always needs an answer or explanation if he doesn't agree. TOTD material.

Ummm.... Because its REQUIRED? If you don't read it back then they have to give it to you again. Don't expect a controller to hang his/her butt on the line because you are being lazy or unprofessional.

He likely works at GoJetz, so he's TOTD material already.
