They're done.

The FEDS should stop stringing them along and tell them it over and send the E-170 back Rio-D

The FAA doesn't string you along on a check ride, when its over its over.

Ted never had THAT kind of funding. Locals would fly point to point from CRQ if, and that's a BIG if, there was a good logo on the tail. They've tried it many times with turbo props and even C421's. Never worked. Mesa could have pulled it off if they weren't such a sucky Op. SkyW is still mostly full. It will continue to be a pipe dream in the future.

Baja.

Pretty much. A direct flight is convenient but you don't get miles that you can use for your european vacation.

Can't say I'm surprised by this. Looks like California Pacific is toast.

Carlsbad airline delayed in FAA dispute Page 1 of 2 | UTSanDiego.com

FAA has expended significant resources in man-hours and travel funding to accomplish certification oversight tasks associated with the CP Air Project,” FAA San Diego field manager Jerome Pendzick wrote to Vallas in November. “The actual performance of CP Air has not been what was expected, and as such, the FAA now finds itself facing serious doubts about the possibility of a successful certification of CP Air.”

FAA Spokesman Ian Gregor said the agency temporarily suspended the E170 certification because it did not have required data showing that Palomar’s runways could handle a plane of that size.

I was surprised to see so many Gulfstream V's in and out of there. If it is still the 5000ish foot runway I remember from about 10 years ago, I highly doubt the E170 would be able to operate part 121 from there. I am sure the CRJ-900 would not.

I dunno about terrain clearance for departing CRQ, but out here on the east coast, the E170 can get out of EYW, which is shorter than Palomar at 4801' to KDCA (over 1000 nm), with reserves.

Not to mention, a very large, expensive airplane.

Then going west over the ocean wouldn't be a problem, might be a problem east with the mountains still...
Guess that's a better short field plane than the 900. Normal ops required at least 6000ft (The plane usually came back with numbers in the high 4 low 5000's for actual required factored distance)
