Yup. He may as well give up. It's a losing proposition right out of the gate. The West Coast is already capacity saturated. I don't care what airport they operate out of.

I agree. That doesn't mean they won't try though. Rich people can be some of the cheapest tippers, biggest tax avoiders (if not evaders) and harshest negotiators in the world. But when it comes to playing with airplanes suddenly losing money doesn't matter anymore and they become ballers making it rain dolla dolla billz y'all at the Viper Room while holding LiLo's hair in the corner as she throws up all over their suede shoes.

I heard the owner has given up, too many snags with the FAA approval.

SWA anf FDX were once a startup and now they pay some of the highest rates in the industry

With your logic we should have one state airline like Aeroflot in Russia. I'll betcha pilots need to be related to Putin to get a job there.

There was this little event in our industry in the '70's called "Deregulation." SWA and FDX/Flying Tigers existed before it. Not much good has popped up since.

That was before deregulation. Completely different.

Define "good"?

Jetblue
UPS
Airtran
Virgin
Atlas
Allegiant

Just off the top of my head.

Jetblue-non-Union. B6 pay rates imposed on legacy airlines by bankruptcy court. Industry is just recovering now.
UPS - Freight
Airtran - Reworked Valujet.
Virgin - non-Union. Substandard pay compared to other narrowbody airlines.
Atlas - ACMI
Allegiant - new Union fighting substandard contract.

Any more questions?
