Fair nuff. What do you wear?

I have these eccos I wear during the summer. They're a tad expensive but they were on sale for $120 at some point. Eccos are really comfortable and last a long time. I also have a pair of ariat boots I wear in the winter.

They are undoubtedly nice looking shoes. I'm just not much of a boot guy. I'm looking for something that has a softer sole like a sneaker but that also has the look of a dress shoe. Perhaps this doesn't exist.

As for professionalism, I've seen some pretty gross looking pilots out there to the extent that shoes seem to be the least of our worries.... Is it possible that having an inconspicuous dark leather running shoe exuding health and fitness might be more professional looking than an overweight pilot donning fancy dress shoes? (not directed towards anyone in particular, but we've all seen this).

Also, its not like we are going to a board meeting or appearing in front of a judge. We have a hands (feet) on job.

In a word, no.

I buy the Bostonian Mendon:

Bostonian Mendon - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways

Around $70-$75 at DSW but then remember you get coupons if you sign up. Normally $10 or 15% but I've gotten $20 off $49 coupons before. I've also picked up those same shoes at discounters for under $40.

They tend to wear faster than a normal shoe because the sole is a light rubber material, but extremely comfortable. They slip on and off and they are very light. No metal shank so you can walk right through metal detectors without issue.

A little shoe polish and they buff up nicely as well.

I got a free pair of Cole Haans and tried to wear them for several trips, no thank you. You can keep your $150 uncomfortable shoes!

While I'm in here, might as well offer you gents a look at some quality pilot shirts.

(This is what too many years in a turbo-prop will do to you) lol!

Lots of love for the ECCO it appears. Anyone wearing this Ariat boot?

Also anyone wearing a Blundstone style boot?

Arias looks nice, not sure it would be dressy enough for the uniform?

Blundstones are butt-ugly, IMHO.

Anyone have these Justin's? They look like they may be nice enough to wear with the uniform.

Clark's Truxton or Truxton Top boots for the winter weather. Comfortable & airport friendly, but they're not slip-on/off.

Been wearing the Dunham Burlington for years. Usually get around 2-3 years use per pair depending if I'm on reserve (fly less) or block holder. Water proof and nylon shank so you don't need to take them off if you have to go thru security.

These look very nice. The leather holds up nicely? Gotta buy extra wide shoes, may have to give these a try.

Yeah. I get extra wide also. 4e is slightly snug and 6e is slightly loose for me. 5e would be perfect. Just pulled out a new pair tonight. Last pair lasted since Aug 2013. Yes nice thick leather, lots of support.

I order from this guy.

aperfectdealer.com

Fast free shipping. I'm in eastern pa and he is in nj so I get my order in 2 days usually.

The Burlington and NB 624 or 857 (rip 856) are the only day to day shoes/sneakers I wear. Dunham Burlington for work and NB 857 for everything else. I have a pair of Dunham Addisons for an over the ankle boot. Works great for the motorcycle.

Try finding ski boots in 6e. What a pain in the ass.
If SIDI didn't make a mega size I'd be out of a mountain bike shoe also.

Agreed on the Blundstones. Not a fan of the loops at the tops of the shoe. Someone also posted a link to a pair of Justin Gideon's that look really sharp.

Clark's. Throw in some good footbeds (I use Superfeet) and you'll be set.

Check out SAS or Ecco shoes both very good shoes and great for all day wear.
