GoJets pilots are not scabs

If TSA didn't strike then GoJets pilots aren't scabs. No picket lines were crossed and nobody got hired in to break the strike. GoJets is a seperate pilot group, flying different routes in different A/C. They may be backstabbers, but they are not scabs.

TSA pilots didn't do much to stop this from happening. Do you expect management to give you better pay because you whine louder? Without a strike or at least a credible strike threat, there is/was no incentive for the otherside to budge.

I'm sorry this happened to you guys, but we are in a cut throat industry and these have been the rules we've played by. You might have gone into this one with a lot of disadvantages, but somebody didn't play the cards right and subsequently TSA furloughed.

great flamebait, just ignore this everyone.

No flamebait intended. GoJets pilots are backstabbers without a doubt, but they are not scabs. By using the word scabs so generally, you weaken the term. It is a powerful word and should be reserved for the people who deserve it.

This GJT thing is so petty. All the TSA pilots had their jobs back within months and are now operating virtually the same as before. If you want to talk about real labor/management issues then look at the NWA pilots and what they did to real scabs. Try looking into the CAL issues in the 80s. Scabs, Strikebreakers, Crawlbacks, a situation so complex that I don't think even some people who were there understand the whole thing.

Pilots are getting so revved up about Gojets because they have nowhere else to vent their frustration. GoJets pilots took, in a very unethical way, flying that TSA pilots refused, but didn't break a strike or cross a picket line therefore they are not scabs.

Nobody said they were scabs.

johnso29 11-03-2006 02:12 PM

Actually, many people have called them and consider them scabs, even though by the true definition they are not. However, they are greedy little bi***es who can't wait in line like everybody else and work like slaves for almost no $$$ or any QOL.

JoeyMeatballs 11-03-2006 03:33 PM

Fine but can we still call them blowjets?

johnso29 11-03-2006 04:06 PM

Oh yeah, absolutely. Hell, I'd call them that to their face. :D

Thats why ALPA formed back in the 30's. Sceniority is everything in this business. TSA Mgt hosed the pilots who had the sceniority to fly the bigger equipment/more pay. They earned that right for years of flying-the-line to keep TSA going. Their contract agreement prevented using other pilot in an operation to get around sceniority /pay. The court sided with blowjet saying they were seperate. Airline indusrty pilots lost because every few years it will be cheaper to restart and pay you first year pay again. Thats why you are a scab to TSA pilots and the whole industry of airline pilots. MGT will keep you at first year FO pay. Sceniority and contract is your only protection from management changing plane, bases, dispalcements, etc.

The saddest day after fourlough was the ride back out on the crew bus and looking up and seeing a nice shinny new Captain hat and it said blow jets. Oh what the proud capt. I could not even say a word even though he looked familiar and I used to be a Captain. I knew those 70 seat RJs had our airline name painted on the side up at the factory in Montrol. Go ahead jump to the front of the line by pass all the TSA and the rest of the industry pilots; technically. You deserve to be black listed by everyone for your whole career.

Yes, and I used to fly a F-100 making $95,000/year now I am flying an Lear and making 1/2 that. Life sucks, but RJ's from 3 carriers have taken my job. I am not running around screaming about it. GoJet no more took anyone's job than did any other RJ pilot out there. Major airlines have 7000+ pilots on furlough. TSA has 0 on furlough, and I doubt there is any pilot on furlough at CHQ, SKYWEST or MESA, all of which have seen huge growth at mainline expense.

Here is what I could dig up on GoJet. It is from a pretty reliable source. GoJet seems to have legally unionized and the NMB says that they are a single carrier. Thus not an alter-ego, look at page 38 on NMB DOC 33, for proof of that:
