Chautauqua E140 Flying for Delta?
Has any one else heard this? I guess they are loaded in the schedule starting in December flying out of DTW. Is is replacing the Comair 200's or is getting ready for a slight drawback at pinnacle for the beginning of 2013.
They currently fly for Delta. Just standard Delta shifting around the system of Connection flying. Nothing new.
I am talking about the E140(44 seat) not the E145's they already fly
So... Delta wants to get rid of 50 seaters and is now bringing in 44 seaters?! yup! Makes perfect sense Richard Anderson!
Delta will pay CHQ pennies on the dollar to do it, and CHQ will operate at a loss on those planes just to get them flying. It's just standard protocol for Delta - they care nothing about the overall health of the companies providing their regional feed...it just needs to be cheap.
I wonder if these are related to the 140s ending in March as AA connection.
This has been in the works for quite a while. There is a provision in the delta contract that allows chq to fly 9 44 seat aircraft. The AA 140s will shift to delta as they come off contract with AA.

you could use that same logic for mainlines to pull out of markets that are operating at a loss, but they dont. Then they tell the employees they need concessions.
Remember Comair just shut down.... that's probably a stop gap for the loss of some of that lift.

Also, 25 Skywest Inc. 200s leaving the DCI system in Nov. In fact, some have already left as I saw a pic of an American Eagle branded Skywest 200 couple of days ago.

It should be interesting to see the first 140 repainted in Delta colors...those things are DISGUSTING in Chicago
Delta also said they wanted to get rid of turboprops, and retired all the Mesaba Saab 340's from their fleet. Then a couple months ago signed a contract with Silver to fly Saabs.
