Colgan: The Real Deal

ok guys, I know that last thread got a huge response, but all I want to know is one thing from the colgan guys: If you could do it all over again, would you go there? plain and simple: is it worth it for a few years? for one year? i just want to cut to the chase and see if it’s better to choose 6 more months of instructing or a year of 121 experience with the folks at colgan. let the venting begin....

well the two guys i know that are there love it, i think if u go in with the mentality that your not gonna make a career there and its just a stepping stone then your fine, thats that kinda attitude i'm going to have, i'm applying there soon

I couldn't agree more Lindy...... if you want to go to another regional and fly a jet... wait a few months and the opportunity will come. If you want to fly for Colgan... go and stay. A lateral move in a year is NOT what you want to do. Especially because you go back to the bottom of the pile. A lot of risks associated with that in addition to it being a huge pain man.

Good luck on the decision!

correct me if im wrong, but with around 1000 TT will colgan hire you with around 50 Multi? If they will then the advantage I see to it would be to go there for a year and get some 121 turbine multi time then make the lateral move to a better regional. Other than that its off to the 135 world to bulid that extra multi time there, then apply to the regionals. Either way I have to try and avoid spending the extra 5K on multi time.

What does that mean?

It means to fake hours in a logbook. Don't do it. Earn it and you'll sleep better at night.

yeah sleep better without a job, while the guy that whipped his time has your regional job ahhaah, nah don't whip

You know i was playing somewhat naive, my gut said thats what he meant.

It comes down to this little thing called integrity, and yes LAFF sleeping comfortably at night. Seniority is everything bla bla bla, ill wait the extra few months or year to know that when i sit down at an interview i can be confident to know that book is completely legit!
