61.159 states that you can use up to 100 hours of sim time towards the 1500 hour requirement..
(5) Not more than 100 hours of the total aeronautical experience requirements of paragraph (a) of this section may be obtained in a flight simulator or flight training device that represents an airplane, provided the aeronautical experience was obtained in an approved course conducted by a training center certificated under part 142 of this chapter.
What is Part 142? I've done research and couldn't find much.
I have 96 hours in a full motion sim from military training at Lockheed Martin. Will this count towards my total time requirement for the ATP cert? There is no reason why it shouldn't.

As far as that reads, unless your training was done as a part 142 certified course, you won't be able to use that sim time to meet ATP requirements. I doubt that military training has anything to do with the FAA part 124 regs, so my (mostly uninformed) guess would be you're SOL.

If you don't know what 142 is, then you have not attended a 142 course, and unfortunately cannot count the time. Although your training was probably every bit as good as a 142 center's course.

Part 142 comes right after 141. Ok, it was a long night. A Part 142 school is an FAA approved school that uses simulators for their training instead of airplanes. As someone said earlier, FSI, Simuflite, Boeing, Higher Power. Many airlines' training departments have a 142 certificate so they can do contract training for people outside the airline.

I've never heard of 142 until this thread but I've completed several of them. Nobody ever says, welcome to your 142 class.
