Sad but true, unemployment is better than first year pay at a regional in most cases.

3000 total. 800 TPIC. A&P, IA, MBA, BS, AOS.

American Eagle called. TSA sent invitation for interview. TMC invitation for interview. Turned them down as I'm not interested in commuting any more.

What's the point of spending the time to apply with no intention of going there?

I would bet there are a lot of guys with that sort of time who have no turbine PIC and won't get much of a glance from those airlines.

I got furloughed from NJA with nearly 5000 hrs, no PIC. The only call I got was from ASA, interviewed and turned down. That turned out to be a blessing as me going back to a regional would have been break even with commuting expenses on 2nd year pay at min guarantee. First year would have cost us money with full time daycare, food on the road and a crash pad.

Times have changed, it's exactly the opposite of what you just said. If you have too much turbine pic you won't get much of a glance from those airlines you listed. The same thing goes for having a 737 type and applying to a particular airline. They know you will leave for legacy later so why spend the money training you.

I applied years ago and the AirlineApps won't let me remove them from my job targeting. Believe me, there was a time I would have moved anywhere at the drop of a hat. Those days are done for me. If I move or commute, it's going to be for some place worthwhile.

I would have gone to TMC, but I'm a little short of my thousand pic.

Almost 10,000 hours w/+7000 TPIC. Eagle said I didn't meet their requirements. EXJ offered me a job so I took the pay cut and got off unemployment. Buddies at Spirit say I should be getting a call any day but the phone's not ringing.

In my class at TSA there are a some guys with more than 5000: a couple of Comair guys and a whale driver. Also a furloughed Mesa guy and a former GLA guy with lots of time. Classes behind and in front of us have guys with lots of time too. A lot of former Comair people.

TSA is hiring all they can right now because of the new aircraft coming April-July for United.

Why not? What is you apply to Eagle and they don't call. If they do great. You interview and if they offer you can take it or go to the next interview. Seems pretty logical to me.

No it doesn't seem logical. If you have no intentions of going to the interview then there is no reason to apply and turn down the interview. Your logic would have me applying to Walmart, 7-11 etc just for the heck of it. The OP answered my question though logically since he said it was an old app that he couldn't delete.

If they have a choice (many do right now) regionals probably prefer people with less than 3000 hours of piston time and little or no ME TPIC. Previous regional SIC time is OK too.

It's actually a sign that they are anticipated increased major hiring, and don't want the bottom half of the list to be in a position to bail on two weeks notice (like half the captains are going to).
