Fly all day then return to your base to go home and find out that you have to do some more Part 91 flying

BeatsCFIing 11-25-2006 04:39 AM

do u get paid for that flying? do u know when they pay you for training, at the beginning, at the end, or in the middle, or on a regular pay cycle? is the pay tax free per diem or is it regular taxable income?

KiloAlpha 11-25-2006 04:43 AM

Yes you get paid for the flying. The issue is that you are tired, wanting to go home, and they tack on another 3 hours of flying broken airplanes.

I forget, but i know you dont get per diem during ground school or sim training; only for IOE if it is not at your assigned base.

You get paid on the 5th and 20th of each month.

Awesome, thanx KiloAlpha, how's st. louis?

KiloAlpha 11-25-2006 04:49 AM

Its ok, one of the RAH guys was held up at gunpoint when I was there (different hotel).

There's a Subway right across the street from the Holiday Inn. The beds in the Holiday in are absolutely horrible, you can feel each and every spring.

Who's your instructor? PM me if you dont want to post it.

BeatsCFIing,

CHO is a decent base for qol and flying. I'm based here and we have 2 planes, so you can do uni-ted and iad + hpn turns or US Air LGA turns. Each equals about 4 on, 4 off; days or nights your choice. We have 7 lines and only 5 FO's, so we are gettig worked over pretty good lately. THe only bad part about CHO is the proximity to the puzzle pallace in HEF. We do a lot of repo flights at night because we are so close. It's not a bad gig. ORF would be better, but CHO is a solid base and it won't be going anywhere for a while. My 2 cents

I'm not sure what you guys going to class were told, but i was in class last christmas at colgan, and they gave us a week off, with very little notice. Plan to go home at christmas. THey will fly you to your home of record, so make sure you tell them your home of record is wherever you plan on spending christmas. YOu can always go back and change it later.

flyguyniner11 11-26-2006 04:31 AM

yeah that was one of my concerns about christmas and new years but hopefully they will do the same

Mht

Hey Cubcaptain,
I am based in MHT now. We have 4 FO's and 4 lines here. I dont think anyone is going to leave soon at least me and the other guy I know of. I waited about 5 months to get in here, but you never know it all depends. Somebody could leave tomorrow and then MHT would be open. The last guy got based here right out of training, but he was pretty lucky. PM me if you want.

CubCAPTAIN 11-26-2006 06:11 PM

breds98, thanks for the info. I guess as long as I can get MHT eventually I will stay in good spirits. Good to know what the real deal is though. Dingo, that's good news about Christmas; hopefully they do the same for us. By the way guys, what does it mean to be "colganized." I see that everywhere but am not really sure what it's all about
