Default Comair loses 12 jets

What does this mean for me and my class Dec 7th?

ERLANGER – In a cost cutting move, bankrupt Delta Air Lines late today said it would reassign 12 Comair jets to another regional carrier by February. It was the first of several awards expected by year’s end from a bidding process conducted this fall.

The announcement means the potential elimination of jobs for an estimated 264 pilots and flight attendants – a figure Comair officials would not confirm. The locally-based regional airline said it would attempt to manage the job cuts through attrition rather than layoffs

From what I habve been reading around todday, the hiring that was done now was due to attrition, and i think this was seen coming down, so I think it will not do much to your class.

I am sure you will get much greater detail from the people that are closer to the industry.

Just a gut feel thought on my end

Buffalopilot,

As far as possible changes to your class in Dec...maybe not much. From what I have seen and read, the company has "planned" for this possibility, and they are not planning on furloughs, nor canceling classes. Be very aware though that you may be spending a lot of time in JFK as a crew base. Concurrent with the announcement of 12 planes leaving, they are going to expand the northeat operation. No numbers from what I have seen yet. Good luck!
