Asa Job

So ASA called today for an interview. Deciding to put into action what the rest of this forum has already suggested, I turned the interview down since I didnt want to work for them in a shiny CRJ for 19 and hour. I think we are all worth more than that. Good move? I am hoping that more people do this to help stop the newest NASCAR race "The race to the bottom 500" from gaining popularity. Anyone else wanna chime in?

I did the same three months ago and I am sooooo sooooo soooo soooooo glad that I did. Shortly after that I got on with a much better and more stable company.

Hey Quaq, who did you get on with?

ASA is my dream airline veacue I am a native Atlantan and really do not want to move. AT first I didnt want to be an airline pilot because of the low pay, but its only for a year. I cansuck that up. Heck, if I can do a year long tour in Iraq I can deal with one year of low pay. I understand what some people think though. Trust me, I am 37 years old had plenty of professional jobs in the past so I am not stary eyed

ASA is slowly being eaten by its parent Sky West. I don't know if ASA will even exist in the same way it does now in the near future. If ATL is your dream I would suggest Making friends with AirTran guys. I have a friend who just got hired on there after working for ATA. He loves. AirTran is a relatively stable and well run airline. You'll probably have to work for another regional to get the time first, but I don't think ASA is the way to go. There may not be alot of upgrading and I think alot of the flying will be taken by skywest, especially now that they have been awarded old Comair flying. Their presence on the East Coast is becoming solidified.

I hate to say it for the sake of some ASA employees, but Im not so sure that will be a bad idea. ASA has always had performance problems and ATL continues to be a poorly run station. It is DL's premier hub and ASA's busiest operation and it is nothing short of a clusterf*&k, all of the time. ASA and SKW ops are seemingly night and day. Perhaps, SKW can do better.

whats the deal with skywest east coast now? i thought the farthest over was chicago. i might consider them now if they put a base somewhere along the coast in place of comairs routes

N6724G:

I feel the same way. I am targeting all of the airlines that are based out of ATL and other SE US cities. Being born & raised in the SE part of the US, I would prefer to be based out of either ATL, MCO, MIA or any other city in the SE US. I know the latter two choices are a crap shoot and are virtually impossible, however, ATL is not a bad base. If things work out, I figure on living in Clayton County Georgia, Olive Branch MS, or Greensboro, NC.

If you want to live in OLV- then Pinnacle is your best bet. You should be able to get MEM in a couple of months.

Yeah, anyone going to ASA has pretty big b*lls in my opinion. It's a crap shoot as to what Uncle Jerry wants to do with that part of the SkyWest, Inc. plan.

As far as first year pay goes, the only place with GOOD first year pay is Horizon. A few others start from $22 - $24. Hope you don't expect more than that. Plus, the second year and first year combined are higher than most regionals, so I don't know if you can afford to take a pay cut or not.
