I have an Ebags Professional 22" bag. It's well made, durable, and around $125.00. There's over 600 user reviews that confirm the quality of the bag.

We are just saying you're an idiot for spending that much money as a newly hired regional FO. Although with the paycuts that mainline has had, maybe newhires there will start buying from TJ Maxx as well.

If your parents credit card is paying, sure go get the good stuff. For now I am happy spending 1/8 of what y'all spent on your luggage. In the same way I laugh at the people who lease new Mercedes or BMW's and live in an apartment complex, I will laugh at you. Feel free to call me an idiot though.

P.S. I've seen "expensive" bags taped up too. It's not just the el cheapo brands that break. They are all made in China :D.

Ontop of that it could have been somewhat sarcasm. But who woulda thought? Point is you're an idiot if you spend $200-$300 on a carry-on. I've traveled the world and still use the same bags. Two of which would qualify as good purchases and neither of which was over $30. However some people jsut have to feel good about themselves and buy something expensive.

On another note the DC X-11's suck. They aren't worth the money.

Well then I guess I'm an idiot.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here son. I'm going to just make the ASSumption that you are ignorant and not plain stupid. How many pilots do you see carrying a backpack?

From your profile it says you are a CFI. Do you show up wearing shorts, tee shirts, and flip flops to instruct in? I mean, only an idiot of a CFI would show up in khakis and a polo or button down to instruct in. Besides, it's so expensive to dress like a professtional, right? I mean, you have to be an idiot to go out and buy some decent clothes to instruct in. I mean, as long as you can afford the Ipod, hair tip frosting, and gel you are good to go, right?

Yeah, I spent 275 for a PNT bag. I also spent my first 4 3/4 years on an aircraft that had no crew bag storage. So guess where it goes Einstein? After having it put in the back with everybody else's bags for 4-6 legs a day, as well as being dragged though rain and snow to multiple crashpads, up and down curbs and sidewalks, it's done OK. I've only had to send it back once, and the repairs were free.

How long do you think your backpack would have held up in the above situation?

I'm not sure about other carriers, but Horizon's uniforms department has very good prices on luggage for crews. A 22" Pathfinder runs $60, and they have lasted pretty well for me. One tip: if you forget your strap on a trip, don't try to carry your heavy-ass flight case on top of your rollaboard, leaning against the handles. The handles will likely bend, and retraction and extension will suck forevermore. And, of course, always remove your strap and tuck it inside a zippered pouch before handing it over to the bag smashers.

I'll sell you my luggage works flight case when we go all EFB early next year!

Any line guys that are on "out and backs?" I was wondering if you even need an overnight bag or if you do carry anything besides your flight bag? I know that you can never tell what might happen at your destination and find yourself stuck for a few days, but I just wanted to know what the back home for dinner pilots do. Anyone?

Also, do you recommend a 7" or 8" for a CRJ? Does the extra inch really help that much?

Keep a pair of clean boxers, a spare toothbrush and a comb in the side pocket of my flight case. ;)

I always take my overnight bag with me in case of the inevitable maintenance issue or getting junior manned. Last day trip I did ended up as 2 day.

Those flight bags weight a ton, and the ones with wheels won't fit most cockpits, so I carry my carry-on even when doing a day trip. Makes bringing the flight bag a lot easier.
