This is perfect for all the yes voters in favor of concessions!

Cubdriver 11-25-2013 09:02 AM

I bet the hotel managers do not appreciate this all that much.

Thedude 11-25-2013 09:08 AM

That is why I am glad alot of hotels have switched to the single cup coffee makers.

sidestep 11-25-2013 09:28 AM

What starving FO can afford salmon?

Or is that fancy feast?:o

rcfd13 11-25-2013 09:47 AM

I have no idea what has been in those coffee makers and half of the hotels put them in the bathroom. No thanks.

BlueMoon 11-25-2013 10:15 AM

I carry food on trips, but never carried fish (I don't count tuna). Seems like food poisoning waiting to happen as I'm not confident I can keep it cold enough in the cooler for 10+ hours of duty.

PDTPILOT 11-25-2013 10:21 AM

I'd be lying if I said I never cooked ramen noodles in a hotel coffee maker

mooney 11-25-2013 10:43 AM

don't forget many FA's wash their same pantyhose in that same manner using the same coffee makers.......

Havent tried ramen in the coffee maker. I usually stock up on oatmeal and grits from the breakfast bar. You can easily get two or three free meals a week out of this.

That joke's been circulating for a while... the male F/A version would probably set you off of hotel room coffee makers for life :D

While practical in a controlled setting (i.e. your own coffee maker), the original post was in jest ;)

Carl, I wish I was kidding but in this case I saw it with my own eyes :(
And since I know someone will ask, I was in her room because she asked me to plug in the clock/radio (it was unplugged and her arms were too short to reach the outlet behind the bed). I thought it was a joke/urban legend before then!

Come on man, you can come up with a better story than that!

Just go ugly early... I was in there because she was hot and gave me some lame excuse to come in, another notch in the bed post. :D

have you seen the average Pinnacle former MEM based FA? I don't want any part of a "better story!" :D

I passed her off to CrewDawg!

Luckily I don't drink coffee... yet... but forewarned is forearmed.

Yep and many first year regional FOs wash their socks in those things.

clearprop 11-25-2013 02:40 PM

Carl, does
that salmon come in decaf?

MR JT8D 11-25-2013 03:32 PM

Certain segments of society clean plastic tools in the coffee pots with hot water. That's why the hotels are going to single cup brewers. And don't ever put ice in a hotel ice bucket without a plastic liner.

What kind of food do you carry? I'm curious.

Buy it on the road, you should be fine then.

jdoggins 11-25-2013 07:28 PM

I'm not a hater, but if you think that a normal person making less than $27,000 a year is going to cook salmon in that petri dish of filth that is a Holiday Inn express coffee maker, you're out of your freaking mind.

mike734 11-25-2013 07:50 PM

Coffee pot? More like a p1sspot. You know how it's hard to find the restroom in the middle of the night? Just use the coffee pot!

Kidding.

You kid, but I've seen that too. Also witnessed **** in the sink, bathtub, and those glass tumblers in the bathroom! The Comfort Inn in San Salvador is definitely not a place you want to fix dinner in the coffee pot, or use any items in the room for food/beverage, that is.

jsfBoat 11-26-2013 06:23 AM

Anybody else put some cheese between 2 slices of bread from the breakfast bar, wrap it up in some aluminum foil and use the iron in the room to make a grilled cheese sandwich? Good to do if you have a latter show.

That's why I carry a coffee cup in my lunch bag to heat up a can of ravioli and have my own eating utensils.

Lots of leftovers from when the girlfriend cooks. This trip I had pasta, homemade pizza, and tortilla soup. Three yogurts and three power bars for breakfast. I also pack deli turkey and cheese along with bread or rolls to make sandwiches. Also a jar of peanut butter to make a sandwich or two. Chips to go along with the sandwiches. Cookies for desert.

I go out to dinner if nothing in my bag entices me at the time, but for the most part that will last all four days and it all fits in the LW crew cooler.

Snarge 11-27-2013 09:45 AM

If you are a Capt, you should be buying your FO and FA one meal per trip. Yeah, I just said that....

Not really, FO's at a major make more money than an entire express crew... no doubt, regional capt pay sucks, but FO/FA pay really, I mean really suck. So a couple of Subs at $5/each per trip isn't going to be remembered, except by the FO/FAs.

Besides, it'll make you a better Capt.

I always did as long as the tipped the van driver a buck.

Ultralight 11-27-2013 11:38 AM

I wondered why hotel room coffee tasted strange. I always thought it was the flight attendants washing their panties in there. Now I know its Carl cooking fish!

Same difference I guess!

Back when I was on probation and also working on Christmas Day, our crew of four went out that night in a 'small' town,in the cold, at the insistence of our Captain to go have a proper dinner and he picked up the tab. I thought it right fine of the skipper and it set a standard that I shan't forget to emulate.

It's faster with a Nomex glove and the APU exhaust - adds a fresh BBQ smokey flavor that's hard to beat.

Woah, I'd love to see how you make it work! I'm taking notes as I am about to sell myself to one of the regionals and will therefore be living out a suitcase.
